As of 3/3/04, there are rooms available at both the Tapoco Lodge and the Deal's Gap Resort. However, there is a BMW bike event the same weekend and those rooms may not be available for long. Make reservations SOON...! Later, if you determine that you can't come, just cancel your reservations but be sure to read each motel's cancellation policy. Tapoco Lodge Cancellation Policy = "Cancellations must be made 14 days prior to original arrival date". Other motels may differ.

Change me to confirmed. I reserved one of those $49 rooms at the Deals Gap Resort for April 23rd and 24th. They have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Looking forward to the twisties and meeting you all.

I read where someone had some ties to hotels in PF, TN. Should we try to all get a group rate in PF where there is way more to do in the evenings, not to mention food/drink/gas options? Just tossing this out since so far we have 18+ possible attendee's we should be able to pull some deal somewhere

Also a sugestion to Tom, how about adding to the list who is trailering and who will be riding in, that way we could make plans for heading in together etc. I will be riding in unless I catch a trailer with a spare spot heading down I81, but I am all for riding from here if anyone wants to meet up or trailer part-way.

Good idea! A "RIDE/TRAILER" column has been added to the chart. Also, the owner's of Deal's Gap told me that cell phones are "out of range" there and for most of the Dragon run. There are local land line phones available though.

sorry I been so quiet, just got my vaca clearance [I'm frickin important ya know!] and now need to book the time at the 'RESORT'. who is this hooken203 guy in waterloo??? Is he trailering or riding? My goal is to ride, but if someone close trailors it, I could bring my Nintendo and color TV and the trip will FLY by.

We have talked on here before I saw you one cold December day flyin down I80 west of Des Moines.I am going to go but I just bought a rack to haul my bike on so I am going to haul it down there. My wife might come along she doesnt ride but might find something else to do.I have some things that I would like to do in the area Monday after the ride. Your a tough guy riding all that way its just not for me. I will be great to talk and ride with you and all these other people. I cant wait.Hope those guys at custom chrome get crackin on all my chrome parts. They got most of my bike. See you there

Wish i could join you, but I am using my hall pass to ride to Bridgeport W.V. on memorial day weekend with the ZZR guys. It's going to be as good if not better than Deals gap I'm told.

It looks like many/most of us will be at the Deals' Gap "Resort" (excuse my emphasis on the word "resort"--having stayed there before, it strikes me as hilarious).

busa1300nut - Why not just meet at the resort? It's the start of the Dragon run (or finish, depending on your point of view) and is where everybody congregates for gas, food, phone, rest rooms, chat, souvenirs, maintenance, etc. Since we will be arriving at various times/days, it will be easy to find one another there. Actually, it's the only thing in the immediate vicinity.

I say as we get closer we can make a list of what times people are arriving and/or with whom so we can kind of know who will be there when and can plan impromptu ride-in groups, especially for those that have never been and need directions or want to follow those that know.

Man I can't wait! I had a great time last spring when I was there but I just kept thinking how cool it would be to have a group there, and now it will be a reality. Now I just need to scrape together some cash for a fresh set of tires.

Sounds good to me warbaby, maybe I should plan on hooking up with anyone staying in Pigion Forge or Gatlinburg and kinda show them the way to the gap. If no body stays here, I,ll just plan on meeting everyone at the (resort). Is Friday going to be sort-of an arrival day and sat & sun rideing days? The reason I ask is I don,t know wether to come on Fri or Sat. what do you think? Plus, busaboyco is staying at our house and he,s coming from colorado, so I need to get with him and see when he plans on being here.

I know for us that Friday is just kind of a get set up and cruise local day. It takes us about 5 hours from here and I normally ride up and meet my friends there.

I put up the web page so everyone would know who, what, when, where, etc, and we can do this any way you guys want!  

 For me, it's a mini-vacation. I plan to arrive mid-day on Friday and leave Monday morning (I'm a glutton for good times). I'll do anything that needs to be done to assist others and coordinate.  

I finally got an email from Donna at Tapoco Lodge. It simply said: "Please call me at your convenience on my cell phone at 828-735-0863". I suppose that is how they take reservations when they are not officially open. I'll call her for details ASAP and post whatever she says here later. Now, I need to dust off my radar detector, put batteries in my pocket music system, find that damned flask, and... get ready to party!

I am in.I made resevation at the Deals Gap RESORT.I will be there Friday sometime leaving Monday AM Trailering my bike.
Please put me down Tom and thanks for setting this deal up it should be a great time. I wish you knew someone at Custom Works to maybe help me get my stuff back sooner. I hope that doesnt mess me up on this trip

Hey...just joined a couple of days ago, got my busa a week ago. My folks and i have been planing to be there the week after 4th of July. We're taking a train to Washington D.C. and driving the bikes back to Miami. We plan on stopping at Deal's Gap and takin' on the Dragon, they did it last year on their Honda Goldwing 1800. Hope you guys have fun and post pictures, I know I will.
