Cool ... I like your trailer ... this will also be the maiden voyage for my new Haulmark. I've only got a couple more trips planned with it ... Wisconsin in August and Florida in October.

sage - I looked at Haulmark trailers and they have some nice models. I went with this one because it met my needs and it is made here in Tennessee. I have a Dakota R/T pick-up truck (360 Magnum engine, 4-speed auto, 3.90 gears, etc.) and I wanted a small, single bike trailer that would be easy to haul and maneuver. It tows lightly and tracks well. The R/T is a sport truck with good handling and suspension (for a truck) and I have to remind myself that the trailer IS CONNECTED to it lest I push the R/T too hard through turns.

This is the first of many warnings to follow. Guys PLEASE BE CAREFUL while riding the Dragons Tail and surrounding roads. A rider went down two weeks ago and didn't make it. He went into a turn to hot, his front end washed out and he slid into on comming traffic. I believe this was the first death up there this year and the local police will be out in full force for a while. Just stay smart, don't take chances and keep an eye out for the cops. They like to give tickets for racing instead of just speeding.

Now having that off my chest I am looking forward to meeting all of you and having a great time riding. As for the cops, they like to make a showing a few times a day but usually don't hang around to long unless there is a lot of foolishness going on. At the point the best thing is just to leave and get lunch or something.

I'm starting to get excited, only a few more days away. I just hope that the forcast improves. Looks like scattered thunder showers friday and saturday with a big rain cloud on sunday.

Does anyone know if there is a loading ramp at the resort? I really don't want to bring a trailer but I'm concerned that if I load it in the pickup bed I'll have a time trying to get it unloaded. It would make me sick to drop the busa 4-5 feet.

NCBusa - I don't know about a ramp being there but with all the trailers coming, someone else may have one. If not, I used to just find a "rise" in the ground, back up to it and roll it off. If nothing else, there will be enough of us there to lift it safely off and back on.

Actually, I'm encouraged by the weather forecast. If the forecast holds true (Ha!), there should be lots of dry time. As of Monday, 4/19, 5 AM, EDT, the forecast is:

Thanks warbaby.  It looks like friday will be fairly nice.  I guess we will head out early friday morning to get there around noonish.  

Another thought.  There is no way that my wife is going to bring her bike, contrary to what I origially thought.  Which means that solo riding for me will be cut short because I'd feel guilty for leaving her alone, unless.... Is anybody bringing their wives or girlfriends along?  I'm sure she would be more agreeable to letting me play if she had some women to hang out with.  Chris

the forecast is getting better, stupid weather man...  I tell ya I'm in the wrong profession.  If I A) kept changing my story and then B) got things wrong more than right, I'd get my happy ass fired  

I've put together a list of things that folks have said they are going to bring.  If you see something thats not on the list that we need or if you want to change something you are listed as brining, just let me know.  Also if you are brining something and you aren't listed let me know as well

Sageronin some firewood, chairs, 2 cases of sodas, 2 cases of bottled water and a bag of charcoal.
Zukracer hot dogs, buns, 2 cases of bottled water, chairs, some condiments and coolers with ice.
Benzbusa potato salad, beer, slaw, and baked beans

There are supposed to be grills at the "resort" but if anyone wants to bring up a charcoal grill (nothing tooo small  

) that would be cool too  

I think we have 6-8 chairs but we have 15-20 folks and unless you are cute and female you can't sit in my lap

so don't forget something to sit on.

Johnny and Tom, Looks like I am out of the trip. The old man is not doing well and hes been admitted to the hospital. I am going to have to pass on this one and go home. A bummer cuz this sounded like a heck of a time, but priorities must be set in this case. Hopefully there will be another get together I can get too in the near future. Hope everyone has fun and comes out like they went in (with no additional paper included).
