Russ, I've been trying to find the thread on AHC, but I have seen a comparison where a guy takes the Chinese levers and the Pazzo levers, cuts them in half and shows indisputably that they are not the same quality of metal. He proved that the cheapies are cast and CNC finished, not milled from billet like the Pazzos.

The reason I am critical of the Chinese levers is because I don't want you to get killed, man! It's not a criticism of you.

Ive done stress test of my own and could not break them under my own strength. I broke my stock clutch lever keeping the bike balanced so i feel way more safe with these. Only way these levers will break is in a crash

The levers are exactly the same. Until you can prove otherwise I am asking you to hold your peace but these levers are stronger then the stockers and that is a fact

Well okay, let's assume you are correct.

We know the genuine Pazzo Racing levers are made from Billet 6061 aluminum.

What are your new chinese levers made of?

If they aren't billet and machined from a solid piece of it, I still say they're as strong, if not stronger than the stock cast levers.
Even the mighty Pazzos aren't able to escape the possibility of a flaw in the raw material before they are machined. Unlikely? Definately. Possible? Definately.
If my lever snaps in my hands I will eat my words(if I'm alive:laugh:)
After a few good hard taps to the workbench and being unable to break them in my hands(no hidden flaws from casting caused them to break in half) they appear to be as strong as stock. They have also not broken on the bike in the last 8 months. I have also broken an old cast lever in my hands before too.
Now everyone can continue to say how foolish we are.

Call your seller in china and ask for customer service. They will most graciously tell you the origin of their material.

Oh, you don't speak chinese and they don't have a customer service department?

Well, in that case I will tell you where its made, China!

Do you know why the chinese billet aluminum cannot be used in any public works projects in the US? Why Pazzo, Votex, Woodcraft, CRG, Sato etc. don't use chinese billet aluminum in any of their products? After all it's only 1/3 the price of Alcoa.

Just look at the money these companies could be raking in at your expense by using chinese aluminum!

The answer is its poor quality better known by some as junk! It cannot pass the certification process for use on public works projects. Same reason none of the companies listed above will use it.

Russell, you should be very proud to know there is no chinese aluminum in any of your Marine Corps weapons.

I talk to my friends at Pazzo and found the chinese came knocking on their door trying to sell their billet aluminum. Pazzo tested the material and found it to be brittle and filled with air pockets. No thanks to the cheap aluminum.

Pazzo says while they aren't thrilled to see this cheap knockoff, they aren't really concerned. According to Pazzo, the chinese knockoffs have little effect on their business as the folks that buy chinese most likely would never buy the more expensive levers anyway. According to Pazzo even if they could sue the chinese for copy right infringments they most likely would not due to the time, cost and amount of benifits from the results.

Pazzo did say one of their customers had broken a knockoff lever but this was the only one they had heard of. Pazzo did tell me the cheap lever tolerances were not as close as theirs so fit won't be quite as good. But for the price difference, tolerances is a non issue.

So Russell's statement of "They are exactly the same" used an impropper adjective "LOOK"! "They LOOK exactly the same". In reality, they are not even close to being the same!

As I have said on many occasions, buy what you want and ride what you buy!

AND,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, arm yourself with knowledge, its your best asset when making any choice!

Or pazzo can be saying that because they want the chinese product to appear inferior because they do take away from their business and they do hurt them. Pazzo would never be on the side of a rival product :duh: Pazzo is out to make a profit afterall

With your OPINION and three bucks I can buy myself a latte at starbucks! I could actually care less about what you buy or what you do with your chinese performance parts.

I want the folks that are considering purchasing levers to dig a little bit deeper than Russells Opinion which is based solely on appearance. As far as I can tell you have not even given yours a test run yet.

But you have no facts yourself? It is just YOUR opinion also. You dont even have any proof of anything other than what "Pazzo says"

For Pazzo to say they aren't concerned as their customers wouldn't buy cheaper imitations is whistling in the graveyard. People on this forum are buying the Chinese levers and my guess is that many would opt for the Pazzos if the Chinese alternative were not available. I have bought Chinese cycling parts and clothing off of ebay. The quality is not as good as the brand names but then they sell for a fraction of the price and at first glance they look almost identical. Its a trade off and the customer will choose what is most important to them personally and with many its how it looks that ranks at the top followed closely by the price.

Try doing some research Russell with the time you spend arguing! Go to the Department of Transportation and learn why the very stuff your levers are made from is unacceptable. I have done my research and laid it out for you. It's up to you as to what you do with it! If you find anything I have pointed out to be incorrect, please tell me. I'm not perfect and my mind is open.

For those of you on the fence, this is my OPINION as well as some facts.

I have crashed numerous times and for those of you who have your first crash ahead of you, it's not fun. Crashin does indeed SUCK! Generally the learning curve includes one or more crashes. The faster you go the smaller the margin of error. Ask any well schooled rider not if he has ever crashed but how many times he has crashed. Take macon for instance, he rides extremely well but he didn't get there without a few crashes along the way. My advise to all my friends on here, if there is anything you can do to reduce the chances of falling, don't skimp on $$. If you do crash due to poorly performing parts, tires, fluids etc. one crash will be more expensive than all the money you save by skimping. Not counting the physical pain.

When I am covering the length of a football field in little more than a second and staring that 120 degree corner called turn two in the face I will never hang my hat on anything "Made in China". Not gonna happen, not ever! Not in this life time. If I can't afford proven quality brake parts I don't need to be riding.

That's my story and I'm stickin to it!

I hope at least some of you will take the time to do your own research. Don't take my word for anything but do consider it in your research. I'm all done with this thread so Russell can RIP! :please:

I think we all know that most Chinese knockoff stuff, while NOT AS GOOD AS American made, is to many people GOOD ENOUGH because of the price difference. They do not honor intellectual rights, they do not have the same EPA regulations, and all of their companies are partners with the communist government. Ergo, they can sell it cheaper and still make a killer profit.

The Chinese got it right while the Russians got it wrong; the Russian Commies wanted centralized control and make all decisions (utter failure). The Chinese Commies just want their 'cut' and let some pretty industrious individuals do all their work.

We are all guilty of this just about ever time we shop. In my own business, the fiberglass industry in the US is just about gone, because of all the EPA/Labor costs here, it's at the moment cheaper to buy it from China and ship it here, and it's GOOD ENOUGH. The playing field is not level (copyright/epa/labor/health costs) and it does put the USA at a disadvantage. So far the US had made up for it by being the INVENTOR/INNOVATOR for the world, but I'm not so sure how long we can hold that together when our children play sports more than they do math at school.

The lead dog always get bit in the azz; that's the hard part about being the lead dog. Lead, follow, or get the heck out of the way :)

We still make the BEST stuff. If you feel the quality Piazzo lever is what you think you need, then you'll buy it if you can afford it. If you don't then you'll buy the cheapo knockoff stuff, and will have to suffer any consequences that may occur from your decision. the Chicom company ought to be paying Piazzo a royalty for each knockoff they make, that would level the playing field some.
