cam chain Tensioner replacing

so i have a nosie in my engine that sounds like a chain hitting so i was going to replace the cam chain tensioner has any one done this before and do i have to remove my whole head off the bike ???

do i have to take the head off the bike to replace it or no ?
 
I think you can do the swap the part with the engine in the frame but at the same time you may be better off having a shop do it. For the time and money it is a critical part that needs special tools...a service manual search would also help you if you want to tear into the job.
 
You don't need any special tools. An allen key and a wrench. Remove the oil line and the 2 allen bolts and put in the new CCT. Very simple job.
