Cam Chain Tensioner Life?

2001 Busa with 24K miles. I just bought this bike.
"What is the service life of the stock cam chain tensioner?"

I took a peek at the service manual (p. 3-47 of the Gen I) and did not find a specified "number." However, it states to "check the contacting surface of the cam chain tensioner. If worn or damaged, replace with a new one." Hope this helps.

Just replace it with a manual chain tensioner. A lot less chance of problems.

24k is not a lot of miles unless you feel that there is excessive sound in the engine, then your chain would need to be replaced as well.

You can replace the cam chain tensioner yourself, I replaced mine with original OEM.
APE is good, but you have to manually adjust periodically.
