Busas on the blue ridge

Some of you may frequent the "other" Hayabusa forums... I posted this event I am putting together and hope if you frequent other places you will do the same. I do realize its less than two months away, but with some efficient marketing... it can be a real success.

The concept... A National Hayabusa gathering at the Harrah's Cherokee Casino located at the beginning of the Blue Ridge Parkway!

I'm doing it... September 1-4 is Labor Day weekend. I talked to Harrah's Cherokee in North Carolina and they will block us some rooms at a special rate. I will work on a hotel that can make for a bunch of riders. I'm also thinking about the logistics of stopping points along the track... er, I mean Parkway for water & refreshments.

<ul>
[*]Friday night meet & greet party at Harrah's There are some FINE American Indian waitresses and escorts there! OMG!! You may want to leave the Solo Cover at home!
[*]Saturday make the first run... about 245 miles of the most intense road... Okay, I know some are going to say Deal's or the Snake is the most intense... Agreed. But, they are less than 20 miles. This is the enduro of street racing!
[*]Saturday night party and call out for the awards.
[*]Sunday ride to the end of Blue Ridge Parkway.
[/list]

I think we could also put together a "People's Choice" award for Best Bikes and many other rediculous categories like "Biggest WUSS on the Best Road"

I've talked to several different companies about "door prizes" or just sponsored offerings. So far I've got Three sets of tires sponsored for giveaways and I'll be working for more free stuff this week. As the list grows, I'll post it. Eventually I'll get a MySpace site up dedicated to all the info and freebies. I'd like to get a large enough showing that we can make those Harley Guys STFU!

What I think I will work on is a "Package" that has the costs figured for both hotels, party costs, trophies, and a t-shirt. In participation, each person is then "eligible" for the door prizes which so far in the two days I have been working on this are two sets of new Metzler M3 tires and a set of Pilot Powers to be used as a giveaway. I promise in the next month to have MUCH more to giveaway making this to be a great event.

I also understand that we are all capable of just showing up and doing the ride... but I am working on dealing with the logistical issues that arise from doing such an event. I have also contacted a company that is willing to bring their trackside trailer to the event just incase anyone cuts a tire or has any significant mechanical failure. I'm trying to make the weekend as painless as possible for those who may have a serious commute just to make it to the event.

So... lemme know what you guys think. I've put together events like this for boat racing and cars.

Here's what the boating event looked like... and note that this was in a NO WAKE ZONE!: http://davidawilks.com/WinterNationals.wmv

It depends on how many busas going to show...
