the resort was fine last time, just kinda a place to bed down inside and a sorta clean place to recycle things

The shower left a little for my tastes so if we were to forsake location, location, location .... and could keep the costs similar, I'm just fine with looking at other accomodations. Closer to the skyway is also just fine with me as I had a total blast riding there (maybe more than the dragon). I'd prefer not something right in town, thats too far of a drive to get to either the dragon or skyway.

Also, if we are looking at any kind of non-commercial (hotel) type place (ie cabin), we need to make sure that there is enough parking for everyone that will be staying there. Figure truck + trailer for each person == lots of space needed

Well shoot.  I was in until the 15th-17th was decided.  I work every other weekend and that just happens to be my work weekend.  I don't know if I'll have enough vacation time since I've already put in for Labor Day weekend for the Cycleforums annual gathering in PA.

Damn, I REALLY want to come down to this.

Well, on my job there is no swapping. You are either there, call in sick (no more than two days in a row without Doctor excuse), use vacation time, or have comp time on the books to take.

Here is what needs to be done...

. Have the busa bash during Daytona Bike week in Florida. The difference is, have everyone stay outside of Daytona. Like, Deland or Melbourne. Close enough away but far enough to avoid the high prices. This will give us an opportunity to ride, and have tons of events to attend. Just my .02

me thinks you miss the point of the busa bash

we aren't just trying to get the group together to chill and ride but to specifically ride the dragon and surrounding roads.

Daytona would be an all day ride just to get to the dragon and I think its too early in the year for riding in that area

Me agrees with Zuk. I know I would not want to have a trip planned to the Gap in late Feb/early March. With the unpredictable weather, who know what we would find....

so did we ever decide on a place to stay? Not trying to jump the gun or nuttin, but with only 4months to go and the tendancy for places up there to get packed nutz early in the spring time, we really should decide.

And BT, you say you love the twisties .... well man it just doesnt get ANY better for riding the twisties, at your own pace (fast or sloooow) within ~500miles of your place.....and this is way closer than that

Not many people have had much imput on the places to stay. We do need to decide soon. I do believe a poll is in order. What I came up with for places to stay are The CROT, Phillips Motel in Robbinsville and Ron and Nancys cabins on the way to the Skyway. I posted the rates for the Phillips and the 2 cabins earlier in the thread earlier. The CROT was closed the last time I called but I am sure they will be around $50/night.

And yeah, BT....I know you wanna come and ride with us.......
