Looking back i could of worded that better. But i was just glad to see positive replies but i must agree the ones with the bad stories more then likely wont be sharing.

I definitely think maturity plays a big part in handling any bike. I had a shadow 500 at 17 and than drove my parents harley low riders on and off for a while than took about 7 years off than bought the busa. I always thought that the sport bike looked uncomfortable to me but once i sat and drove my buddies busa down the street it felt perfect. I definitely respect this bike and take my time. I can say I'm definitely a beginner on something this powerful.

I also drove a friends GSXR750 and i really felt like a monkey on a football.. not me at all.. My bike came with a handle bar riser so its even more sport touring than others..

Busa was my first, I took an MSF course before I got it, I have no tickets, and I had a get off at 65mph. Only got a really bad bruise and I got a new 09 busa after insurance paid. Wreck wasn't the Busa's fault, and I'm still riding a busa. I've been to one track day so far, love it but now I am feeling increasingly uneasy about spirited riding on the street. The cross traffic is really dangerous on the back roads I ride even if the traffic is really low. It's been a year, going on two really fast, and I've logged about 8,000 miles, only 5k on my Zero. Thinking about getting Zero a stable mate for track days because I don't want to lay her over on the track, she's way too pretty for that.

I don't know who's dumber there, the rider who ran into the wall, or the guy teaching him. I understand its common sense to pull in the brake when stopping, but his mate only told him that he needed to pull in the clutch to stop.
At least you don't have to worry about that guy listening when he's being taught.

like most have stated here.. Busa's are great bikes.. I respect the bike. I ride within my limits and dont care if I dont keep up with those whom like the twisties.. I know my limits and comfortability. Like everyone says.. Its all in your right hand.. Play that slap and tickle too much and it will definitely bite you in the rear end! Great bike, few mods to mine and not overdoing it like some posts I've read.. fit the bike to you..enjoy it and ride safe.. see you at next ride.

It was my first street bike, rode several dirt bikes when I was younger. If I could do it again I would buy a used SV650 cheap. Ride the crap out of it as I saved the money back to buy the busa. The mountain roads I ride some weekends are not made for the busa. That way I'd have the best of both worlds. I have no problems keeping up on the nice winding roads but when you start hitting switchback after switchback the clipons are not the way too go.

That video was kind of shocking. Both of those guys shouldnt touch a bike because first of all i would have taught him all about the controls before he was sitting on it ready to roll and secondly he taking his first ride without a helmet? Guess he learned

Not likely that you will get any takers....and I agree that the dead, injured, humiliated and just plain quitters don't post. Although maturity and respect are important elements in keeping you out of trouble they are only two of many and they rank well below experience and skills.

Beginners shouldn't ride superbikes.

Here is one for you...I got into bike because of my uncle's and older cousins. They told me a motorcycle is like a woman...if you don't respect her while you are on top of her she will throw you off. To me that is a true statement. My first bike was a 03 Busa, my second was a 02 Limited. I have always been respectful to my girls and in turn they have shown me nothing but love.

If you are a completely NEW to riding and the reason you wanna bike is so you can ride like the guys on the Speed Channel and Youtube please don't buy one.

The Busa's my first and I took the MSF course to get my endorsement several (like 7) years ago.
My wife and I decided to get a bike cause we both felt we'd enjoy it. We sat on every bike we could find and the Busa seemed to be the best combination of comfort and "safety". All the Harley's and the like that placed my feet ahead of my knees scared me. I didn't feel I could avoid something in my path as "safely" on one of that style bike.
Maybe I'm completely wrong in my observation, but we have enjoyed it.

I am however honest in my own skills and abilities, I've got a lot to learn. The ones that really worry me are those who go get an endorsement and bike w/out taking a course. I see way too many guys who know how to make the bike operate but lack the how it should be operated and why it should be done "that" way.

04 gsxr 750 was my first bike, loved that thing. Never ridden a motorcycle once in my life, few quads/dirtbikes here and there, but never a motorcycle. Had the stealership deliver it to my house and "taught myself" how to ride it. Was terrified of it for quite a while. Took me about a week or two of putting around the apartment complex before i took it out on the road. Stayed in 25 mph zones in housing developments and such for another week or so until i was comfortable taking it out on the main roads. After about 2 years of riding the 750 decided to step it up a notch to the 08 busa and have been extremely happy. I agree with others, it really depends on your maturity level. If you're the type who has to push things to the limits and show off in front of others, busa would probably not be a wise choice. If u respect the bike and realize what can happen if u twist the throttle hand just a bit too much, you will be fine. Was pretty terrified of the busa when i first bought it, realizing what this bike is capable of, but i just took it easy for quite a while until i was comfortable and got to know the characteristics of the bike. Then, and only then, did i un-leash the power of this mighty beast My only complaint with the busa-I have a very hard time holding onto the bars under hard acceleration, man what a feeling!!!!!

The "don"t get a Busa as the first bike" thing should be changed to "don't get any bike unless you take the proper steps to ensure your first ride wont be your last" A fool is a fool no matter what he or she is on.

I know a few people and two of them females that got Busa's as their first bike, after getting them lowered they have put many miles and no accidents. I have no idea why people insist on making it seems as the busa is a difficult bike to learn on, its just simple steps you take to build skill as you should do on any bike, my girl will be getting one as her first bike and she too will do just fine.

Although the 06 wasnt my first bike...it was my first street bike. I rode dirt bikes as a youth.

I liked the Busa sooo muuch as a first bike......I bought another one to race with.
