Ok, long story short, both of my parents died early this year and I'm getting a very sizeable check very soon. I've had a hardon for the RCC Stage 2 Turbo kit. Website says it puts out 435 HP. I haven't researched what all has to be done to the motor, but I do know the kit is right at $6K. I wouldn't even really consider this a reality, but since day one of me buying the bike my dad always said "man, I wish you're turbo that thing so I could ride it once." Well, I'm gonna take dad for a ride one way or another. Anyone have any experience with this kit? I don't care that it's going to be a straight line bike as I'm just going to stretch it and lower it anyways. I'll be buying a new Gixxer K next spring so I will have a tame bike also. I'm itchin to pull the trigger on this project. Should I trust a local shop or send it out to someone big? Also, what kind of numbers would I expect going 1441 along with the RCC kit? I want to be dyno king in my neck of the woods!! There's a 373rwhp 14 running around and I want to embarass him next time!! Thanks everyone. And in case you're wondering if you're wasting your time with your input, you're not. This is going to happen so I appreciate all the info. Thanks.

The installer/tuner is as important as the correct turbo kit.

FWIW there are already a couple of ultra turbo kit bikes out there for sale. i would buy one and save a ton of money and sell mine if i were gonna go all out.

but if your gonna pay someone to do it. trust someone thats done more than 1 or 2.

yes, if I die my son will be set for life. Not that money is any substitute. I appreciate the info about buying an already turbo'd bike, but I'm set on this being all mine. Has more meaning to me that way. Who can I send it to that will have it done in a timely fashion?

You will have to build the clutch and tranny to handle that much hp, won't be streetable, go with a stage 1 kit and just have fun, there will always be someone out there bigger and badder... good luck with your decision

stay away from the bigbore if wanting to go turbo.. I will step in and say honestly a stage 1 will satisfy more people's street needs than they realize. The Stage 2 is a great kit as well as stage 3 and the next guys stage 5,usage,ability to work on and run the bike properly is something you can't buy but with patience can learn...

Since you are in Ohio, if you have the money to do it right and don't want to do the work....I would truck it up to Richard at RCC and let him doing everything you want for a couple weeks and then pick the bike up ready to ride. Nothing like having the man himself build, install, tune it for you.. :beerchug:

and actually you get a lot of turbo kit for your money on a gen II bike, with stock injectors and basically stage 1 price you can use the ecu to control all 8 injectors, my bike made 356 hp with this setup (you would need engine mods though), and if you want everything that turbo can put out (430 ish hp) then you would need some larger injectors.

With turbo sky the limit for HP numbers, but you must bullet proof the motor to hand the boost levels.
Stage-2 on stock motor...265HP at 8 psi boost
stage-2 with spacer, studs, 65lb springs, adjust cams...285Hp at 10psi boost
stage-2 same as above should handle 12psi boost..for 300HP BUT on the limit of the RODs and needing race fuel.

I have stage-2 with a lig/air intercooler plenum and told I could see up to 20psi boost on 93 pump fuel if major motor work done to handle it:
Like above also include:
rods
pistons
under cut tranny
HD out put shaft
Billet clutch basket
Main case studs
Im sure even more small things to see 450+hp..then run race fuel for more
Get my idea...sky the limit with turbo, but the other mods must come with it so it all stays together.:beerchug:
I maybe off on some numbers.....just my memory from chat with the turbo God! Richard.

I'm just wondering why you chose the negative implication of calling it a "death trap" ???

It would appear that this is something you already see as being a bad idea. Maybe you should take a step back and make sure this is indeed what you want to do w/ that money that was left to you. Just curious

And as for the HIGH HP numbers.....I just dyno the MULLET at 250HP @ 140 torgue and thats rolling thru an OSD 330 tire to the ground. Let me tell you that is crazy on the street!!!! If not for me getting more into the dragracing...I WOULD NOT go more HP. At the 250hp...that will dominate around here for most HP shoot out shows.

My target will be around 340hp...then even on the track Im done searching for power! Only need quick times after that.

Invest your inheritance in something that will appreciate so you can really enjoy it later .
You already have a fast bike and you don't want to leave your son without a father or a grandfather do you ?

The turbo will be the greatest thing you ever had for a time but then as with all toys you'll get bored . Then what ?

Buy 50 acres in North Carolina and two dirt bikes, one for you and one for your son.

Some food for thought :

And now a 12yr old and wife fatherless

In a little less than a yr here I've become close with many and weekly I see somebody 'went down' or is 'gone'
Inside I weep for every one .
Just think about what's really imp in life is all I ask.

With the way the economy is, now is a good time to invest in undeveloped property or purchase a house. Now is also a good time to start saving for your little guys college, or maybe even further your own education.

A toy, that won't be worth half what you've put into it when you're done, is not a sound investment.

get on psychobike, there are 7 second capable bikes for under 20grand.

It would be a shame to know you spend all this money building a turbo bike, then all the chassis and supporting mods then you don't have a dime set aside for your kids college career.

all good info. What those of you advising investments don't know is that my son's college is paid for by his grandfather already, son's mother is a couple years away from being a multi-millionaire from her father, and everything I own is paid off. Bike, truck, house. I will surely invest most of it, but I want to play with some of it too. This bike will be track/show 99% of the time. I'll roll in on it to some dyno shootouts too, don't get me wrong. But I won't be riding the twisties or lane splitting with it anymore! I appreciate the concern, but I have to have a turbo bike. I do understand that it will be worth very little if I ever sell it. But that's ok. Any rocket is worth little when it's used. I want to have a nasty, custom machine that will knock people over when they see it. Call it desire, call it ego. It's both. The bike doesn't even feel fast anymore. Time to wake her up!!

And to the one questioning the term "deathtrap", that's what my ex-wife called it when I told her what I'm doing with it. So the name just stuck. I'll probably actually have a grim reaper ghost painted on one side and deathtrap on the other. Should look "killer"!
