Help!
I got my ghetto kit and delivered it and my 2001 busa with 5000 miles on it to a shop call Sagus Suzuki in Los Angeles county on Aug 11th. They still have it. It took them over a month to put it together. Without a test drive or a dyno run and gave it to me. One hour later the bike is ticking and blowing blue smoke.

The Project:
install turbo with dual stage boost set at 7 and 11 psi.

The Proplem:
My first run caused the fuel fuse to blow (10min run time)
The second and final run resulting in a blown 3rd cylinder according to the shop.

The Delema:
The shop charged me 13 hours 6 for turbo install, 5 for valve job (no adjustment made), and the rest on other stuff like mounting brackets, cutting plastic, ect. I already paid!!!
They state that I have to sign a new work order to have them determine if they are at fault in improper install or lack of dyno test.

What the #### should I do about this. I want to kick some ass, or sue, or something.

I want some advice. Also, I want a recomendation on a good place to take the bike in the event that I take a loss and pick up the bike as is.

First off the Ghetto Kit was designed for the do it yourselfer's and apparently your not one of those guys...I wasn't either...And apparently you didn't read all the threads related to Turbo's...I don't know about the company you used so I can't bash them but they did not dot their i's and cross their t's...Should have been test ridden and dyno'd especially since they evidently didn't know WTF they were dealing with...Legal recourse against them I don't know...Their not going to admit any fault...I hate this for you...I posted about the logistics of a good installer...I drove 16hrs to make sure my shat was done correctly and had to send it back after my local shop freaked it up...

I live in LA & Sac was my hometown.

As for the install, should I trust the company to determine if they f'ed up?

I don't trust any shop outside of it's reputation...If you go to a local shop and you have never seen them working on a turbo that's a clue...If you ask them can they install a turbo their more than likely gonna say yes but have no idea what their doing...If they get it connected and the motor starts their job is done in their opinion everything else falls on you...If you've got extd warranty and need some motor work Suzuki may cover you as long as the dealer doesn't mention the turbo...

Any recs on shops in L.A.
I don't know of any...You may need to call Dennis if that's who you bought the kit from and get some direction from him...Itwould alsobe worth salvaging the bike and turbo to me that if I had to I would ship it to a reputable installer...Once setup correctly you should not have any major problem...I was gonna say winter is approaching and it would be a good time to get the bike taken care of but since you live in Cali you don't have much of a winter...

i dont have a turbo busa nor even own a busa yet, but from the all the research i have done, your not supposed to run more then ~7 psi on the ghetto system using the stock fuel system. if you did a couple runs at 11 psi, no wonder it blew if in fact thats the truth about the fuel system and if yours is still stock...

sorry just had to give my input...

The kit comes with a larger fuel pump rookie roo. + I only rode it at the 7psi position.

Does anyone know of a shop in Los Angeles area, ill travel for this if it comes to it.

You won't have much luck with the shop that you are using. They did install not tune. The first give away was the lenght of time that it took. Sounds like you did the piston. Most likely you also did a secons piston and damage to the head. Start researching who is around you on the boards. You most likely are talking about up to $2,000 grand of damage. Once you find a place let's talk about preventative tunning and gauges and everything else that is on this site. You may find that a second motor may be a way to go for parts. Keep looking here and suzukihayabusa.org. First thing is finding what went, ask your shop if they think they are accountable for anything.

I know not everyones handy with the wrenches.....but sometimes...especially when you own a bike....its really best to do your own work...BUT, you have to find out ALL the pertinent info before you start a big mod. I'll be turbo'ing my Busa...and I will damn sure be doing it myself. I'm a pretty good wrench...had a bit of schooling, and I learned early nobody touches my bike but me

From what I've read and heard the bike specific turbo kits come with directions...those plus a little common sense would prolly be all you need. Unfortunately, in my area anyways....I know more than any of the kids they call mechanics in our local dealerships. If I was gonna have a turbo installed I would pay more for somebody who "actually knows" what they're doing...most shops will agree to anything for the money...whether they can do it or not. I'm not sure what you need to do now tho....I've never been in that situation. IMO they took wayyyy too long to install the turbo...a sign of lack of knowledge...and why a valve job? That kits designed for a stock motor I believe, all you need to do is increase fuel flow and prolly install their electronics right? (and you most def need a boost gauge) It sounds to me like they screwed up in the fuel department...especially because of the fuel pump fuse blowing. They prolly ran your motor wayy lean. I would talk to the shop first and see what they plan to do about the situation. If they aren't too keen on making good on their mistake I'd tell them I'm gonna get a second opinion at another shop...then I'm gonna sue them...call Suzuki...and spread the bad word all over town about them (and don't forget the Better Bussiness Burea). That usaully makes them think about the bussiness they could lose compared to just fixing your bike right, or having someone else do it. And you already have enough money spent on this project...I would def pay a KNOWLEDGEABLE shop to diagnose your bike. There's no way you did anything wrong...a properly installed turbo kit MADE for your bike at the reccomended boost pressure would not do that...thats why its designed for JUST your bikes application. Now go get'em tiger!!!

And remember, always make the shop test/dyno run your bike before it ever leaves their doors. Don't pay till you know its right....

Talked to the owner today. He offered to have the bike taken to his yamaha dealership across town and have them diagnois it there. But, I have to sign a work order and the wrench on the job has only a few turbo bikes experience. they were stock bikes at that. Nothing like the busa. I want to make a decision soon on this. My gut says to send it to motorhead or steadman but shipping will cost $800 both ways I figure.

stock turbo bikes???

You can translate that to he's never worked on a real turbo bike. The stock turbo bikes had one major advantage over turbo kit bikes....they were already tuned and they don't run high PSI....makes them pretty easy to not screw up

I think you may be logistically closer to JohnnyCheese...Shipping should be about 800 round trip...

I would try and figure out what's wrong with the bike locally and then determine if I needed to ship it off...
