got to put about 60 miles on my bike friday. it was in the 50's, noticed at one point, sitting at a stoplight temp gauge went to hot and warning light came on. as soon as i took off from light, it dropped back to normal range and never got hot again. is this a normal break in thing since it was only fifty didnt see any reason for bike to get hot and it didnt smell hot

How long were you stopped, what RPM is your idle set, and did the fan activate?

Under most conditions it is not normal to go to 'hot' and the indicator ro show unless you are at idle for a long time (5-10 minutes). Check your coolant levels and concentration.

If the bike was not actually hot, it could be a faulty temperature sensor or connection.

What he said.

I'm in AZ and I have heard the fan come on many, many times, (only in stop and go traffic, Argggg) but never saw the temp indicator.

Not normal.
