Backlash in drive train

Hi I have a last gen 1. I have done 27k miles on it and the backlash in the drive is started to get annoying. The chain is good and set right and the drive Cush rubbers are in good condition. It seems to be coming from the clutch. I have heard people welding up the clutch backplate to eliminate the backlash. I have seen the Brock system but can this work for a road bike?
Any advice please will be greatly received.

Steve

Welding the clutch won't get rid of backlash. Some backlash is normal in the Busa trans., it would not shift if there was none.

Check the cush to see if it looks like the sprocket is moving, the rubber seems to get softer with age.

Pop the bike up on the rear stand, put it in gear, then rotate your tire to see where the play is. If lots of play in the rear hub, but chain isn't moving - replace cush drives. 30K on originals is pretty good depending on usage.

Process of eliminating.

And FIRST post! Welcome!

Welcome to the oRg ever replace the chain and sprockets or cush drive rubbers ?
