Auto Shift Off Stock Shift Light

So wanting to do a auto shift on my bike. Should be easy to wire the trigger off the shift light (in my mind). From a lot of Google search and on this website looks like it's been done. Anyone out there done this? If so any down sides and how much work is it to do?

The auto shift is about $300 more for the mps setup. I don't drag race but know it will hit the track some day. And feel I will regret not going with a auto shift setup.

Alot of setups out there what's best and most economical?
