.22 rimfire conversion, super cheap to shoot.

what is C.A.R. when refering to a rifle (model 1 sales) and what is AWB mean?

I think C.A.R in relation to rifles was originally designated Colt Automatic Rifle. What model 1 sales uses it for I don't know. AWB in firearms relation probably stands for Assault Weapons Ban.

.22 rimfire conversion, super cheap to shoot.

That conversion cost about as much as a ruger 10/22 rifle doesn't it?

chris. if you wanna consider a diff caliber i would be more apt to reccomend some to buy diff rifles and keep them in the cal theyre made for. theyre some that have interchangibility just by upppers but a lower isnt much more and keeps the value up there as a working gun vs a parts kit. youll get more money out of a gun vs a bucket o parts... 7.62 is a sweet caliber dpms has several models very resonable price, there are others but i would look at either dpms or armalite for the 7.62 (.308)...

car is thrown out sometimes as a carbine model. have to see the context. kinda doubt they would refer back to colt with no colt parts but never know. they try all kinds of gimmicks

.22lr conversion has been a pita from my experience. buy a .22 model or a .22 repeater. theyre not expensive. half the fun of shooting an ar is the power. heard of horror stories about gas blocks and tubes clogging with 22 but never had it happen to me. can really say if it was the kit or trashy ammo.

Watch out for those cheap 50 cal conversions too because they are just a ticking time bomb. Some guy got seriously hurt at a shooting competition with one of those AR based 50 cal bolt action rifles. I think the company has a recall on them now. Now that Bushmaster BA50  but $4500.00 though!

Shoot them in the head with the .223 and that should be good enough!

I am adding a tri rail to my lower fore grip so I can add surefire flash light, green laser and vertical fore grip. Maybe get a red dot latter on after. Found some pretty good deals on the rail and other accessories.

I was torn about whether or not to get an M4 AR-15 or go for accuracy. I bought an SKS a couple of years ago and put a nice Tapco kit on it, but it's not known for accuracy. Besides, I'm going to get an AK-47 next to satisfy my assault rifle desires.

This is my SKS with the Tapco kit on it.

I also purchased a Mosin that I was going to use as my sniper rifle, but the red dot scope isn't getting it done.

I have a Norinco SKS that I have had for around 10yrs and will hopefully put the same scope setup on it. I have to get the folding stock off that it came with because it is a piece of crap. I am looking for a good fixed stock for it sometime in the future. It is just too loose for scope shooting.

I have two of those Mosin Nagant rifles both hex receivers. I have the scout scope mount also but would really like to have the bolt bent and receiver tapped for scope mounts. Just so many projects going on!

I think I will work on the AR first and then on to the Nagant then to the SKS.

OMG is this a gun thread...
DPMS are fine as well as are most current AR makers. Some stand out some dont.
I have a couple Armalites that are one holers !
I have to agree with Mattstang though on one point.
If I had to grab one, run, jump, swim and come out the other side shootin' it would not be an AR design.
AK or HK....loosey goosey so that Fl sand and muck wont stop it.
Although the new piston powered Ars are really the best of both worlds.
The new Ruger .223 rifle is super nice....

22 kits are great. S&W makes a dedicated .22 rifle now in an AR config for about a nickle.
Really nice gun, I have shot one.
I had an original Colt conversion NIB (actually plastic package) that a friend finally just talked me out of.
For the Colt kit he gave me crazy $.
I have sold H&K .22 kits for almost 2k recently on GB that I bought for $900 at the local gun show. I started it at one penny and put a 14 day time on it.
The bids were like the natl debt, just kept going !
I could not believe it....hey I got kids so I'll take the profit.
I have other kits still in all 3 cals and guess I wont be gettin rid of them anytime soon.

But I personally like .30 caliber rifles and I'll take my Garand any day.
Did not do so bad with that when I used to compete at 1k and it is the single greatest battle implement ever devised......with yrs of proven exp.
A bit heavy but still after all these yrs with my open sight I am bull bustin accurate !
Here is a pic a one of my favs.
Springfield Armory CMP collector grade Garand......
1951 date #s matching as new 5.8 million serial range
She's purdy...

Also is a pic of the Colt and H&K .22 kits

Also lastly is a pic of what some H&K collectors consider to be one of the holy grails of HK items.
It is an H&K made .22 kit made for a FN-Fal. Really neat barrel insert it has to convert barrel dia down to .22 .
Absolutely new.
It was made by H&K for the Brits and carries British terminology as label says L12A1.
'The owner' of it has turned down $2.5k offers in the past.
Useless for use because of its value to some but really a neat piece of H&K history.

Really though I think I have more Brown&Blue in my safe than Black.
I like Winchesters and Springfields.....Oooh how I gotta an .03 I could show you.....Whew doggie...

Ps....WORD TO THE WISE.....BUY AS MANY RECEIVERS AS YOU CAN !
Like Hi-cap mags were once I believe we are heading for more dark days and an AR receiver will be worth its weight in gold or more !

I remember when factory Glock Hi-caps instantly went from 13 bucks to 200 OVERNIGHT !
Assault weapons ban, Hicap ban.......
.........soon to be home made assmbly ban....receiver ban.....reloading ban.....components for reloading ban........

Just like ammo...two yrs ago a case of .223 was 2-300 now 650 WTF ?
Even if you dont own any guns buy 20 receivers and wait.
Just as good of an investment as some stocks or bonds that may be worthless one day.

STOCK UP !
