AR enthusiasts......What do you think of DPMS lowers?

Just to add something different to the AR discussion...I had an extra lower and this was my way to enter the .50 BMG...I used a dpms lower...had to change the spring, hammer, and remove some items per instructions.

well I don't plan to put a hell of alot of continual rounds through my first upper since its gonna be a long barrel upper..... my 2nd upper will be a 16" so that'll probably be chrome lined.

i think if i wait 2 weks n behave myself i might swing the 520 and get it all at once!@!!:cheerleader:

where you ordering the upper & parts kit dude?

and where did you order the stripped lower from?

spikes st-15 for 89. belive it or not the guy i talked to graduated embry riddle also so we chatted for quite a while. i was going to order my whole rifle kit from arparts 520 for a 20" barrel with flash supressor. a3 uppper with free floating picanni 4 rail hand rail and 4 rail gas block a2 stock but for 25 bucks i was going to switch for m4 6 position. and kit includes all except stripped lower and mags. if i am ordering my lower parts kit its from bravo company..they are selling thier DPMS lower kit for only 48 bucks man...christmas special...jump on it!!

looking at some of the custom .50 cals at watson, 2400 for a custom built 50. might have to start saving my pennies. 4 bucks a shot is kinda spendy, but as a hunting rifle, hell, it's only a little more expensive than a nice 30 cal, with a hell of a lot more stopping power.

what you going to hunt with a 50 cal...ogers?

all the stuff i can't hunt with a .223

you know, like dinosaurs, iraqi tanks, pave lows, the cloverfield monster, a-rod's ego:laugh:

seriously tho, i got skunked this last deer season because i was shooting a 55 grain soft point in an area where i should've been using slugs from my 12 gauge. suppose i could just buy a slug gun, but i think the bmg would be more fun. maybe get an elk or moose next year.

Do the sights come with it? Otherwise if you are planing on using the scope 100% of time. The cheapest removable sights I have seen so far are the MagPul.

yes i planned on purchaseing front and rear sights and putting some type of optic on. seen the ones from mag pull...and again.... the scope and magazine is not included its just part of the pic

I highly suggest goin to model1sales.com Chris. They have complete rifle kits available including lower parts kit with the complete rifle kit. LITERALLY all you need is the stripped lower.

And what I meant is what shop are you having the stripped lower delivered to? You can't just receive a stripped lower, ya have to have an FFL. Or did you get that guy at work to order it for you?

i'm gonna have mine threaded 1/2x28 for a Bennie Cooley Tactical Compensator in large profile

bobs...and the 520 kit i am buying includes everything to make a complete rifle except a stripped lower and magazines.....go look at thier website..see thier prices... other org members buy from there that is wher i got the link its blackthorne products website

I checked out blackthorne products and they don't have ANYWHERE near the options for customization that model1sales.com does. Go out to walmart & pick up an issue of Shotgun News

I just got my sig barrel and slide back from being refinished yesterday and it looks great! Way better than the holster rashed piece it was. I sent it to Mac's Shootn Irons out of Tucson AZ. Pretty fair price too! $59.

yes i am very much aware that they dont have the "customization" but if i was to duplicate exactly what i could get from the kit at blackthorn..it would cost me 583 without muzzle break...without threading for supressor or other muzzle attachment. and that muzzle break reduces felt recoil.

I thought most all AR barrels except for the bull barrels come threaded. What other kinds come without?

The compensator or flash hider above looks very similar to a Hungarian AMD65 type! I have one (AMD) on my RPK. She's pretty loud and has a hell of a flash. It reduces recoil very well as I have shot it with out it and she can get pretty rough.

i will look at both..but in the end i might still have to piece by piece it and that will cost me alot more
