Anyone w/ aftermarket battery still experiencing 'hot start' issue?

Is there anyone out there with an aftermarket battery that still experiences the ‘hot start’ issue, notably, on the gen3?

For context - My bike is <1 year old, lives on a battery tender most of the time (280 miles on odo). I was 3 miles into my cruise around town and stalled at a light. Tried starting half a dozen times and it sounded like the battery was low voltage, even though the battery tender was green when I left. Applied some extra throttle during the starting process and finally got it to turn over..

This has been an issue for me off and on (random) since I bought it last year.
Can’t help but think the stock battery is junk? Curious if anyone with an aftermarket battery continues to have this issue.

over short distances the genrator can´t load the (acid/gel) battery that far that it has enough power to start ur engine again.

better is the lifepo - she has allways more (starting) power.

but my tip would be to check the charging voltage.

up to date I haven't heard of any problems with the Gen3 here in Germany,

but if the charging voltage of an acid or gel battery is constantly above 15 V, the battery suffers significantly and can! become defective.
a lifepo will be killed very quick by 15 and more volts !

recommendation (and this applies to ALL busa):

install (temporarily) a voltmeter and check that way the charge strength - over 15 V , ... ;-)

or get an electric vehicle 4 short ways. (up to 3-4 miles one way)
or get a bicycle ;-)

I wonder if the 2024 on batteries are the same? There's NO WAY that the mothership doesn't know of this problem.

Personal issue for me is currently owning three Italians and having more confidence that they'll fire up than my gen3!

it's got nothing to do with the battery. When it gets hot the starter expands and binds to its housing so wont turn. Once it cools enough the metal contracts and hey presto normal service resumed. Doesn't affect all bikes, depends on manufacturing tolerances.

Any idea how this can be fixed?

I am have been experiencing this with my 23 model since I purchased new in February 23. Stator was replaced at 500 miles. Died at first track event I took it too. First use of the lunch control killed it

When I first purchased my 2023 Gen III I experienced the hot start issue a few times but after putting a few hundred miles on the clock the hot start issue has gone away. The few times I did have the hot start issue slightly twisting the throttle while pressing the starter button and the engine fired right up.

The key is to open the throttle while starting it. Common issue. I forgot what the terminology is for it but, it is even mentioned in the user manual

It’s bs that u gotta do that though. It’s supposed to be super refined gen 3, less radical cams and compression than the gen1/2 but u have to crack the throttle to start a stock motor like it has carbs? Meh.

They still look cool tho, if I was in the market for one I’d still buy one. And just complain like everyone else lol

surely there are aftermarket versions of the starter related pieces which are slipping or binding or whatever the hell?

i mean, money fixes 99.9% of problems, just wanted to point that out =D

Popping the fuel cap before hot starting seems to be helping my gen 3, which suggests the problem is vapour lock. I'll be doing some more testing to make sure I'm not sowing false info. In response to the OP, I'm running a heavy-duty Lithium battery, and it didn't help.

I purchased a brand new 24 Busa and had this issue with the bike from the very beginning. I told my dealer of the issue and they explained there was a software update that would resolve this issue which I had them do upon bringing the bike back for the 1st break in service @ 600 miles. In the interim the quick solution is upon starting when the bike is already hot is to just open the throttle a tiny bit and the bike will start right up without missing a beat. I now have 5500 miles on my bike and after the software update this issue has never come back and I’m still on the stock original battery that is plugged into a battery tender when the bike is parked.
