it will mount right up on a busa.allows you to lower the bike with out battery box hitting top of the arm..

What is the limit of not being underbraced? And is it more of a hard launch issue or all around limiter?

I have seen 300hp bikes without them and still go straight.I would honestly say over 400 you may twist the arm a little but if arm is built right then you don't need it...Most of the time it's cosmetic...
