R100 BMW boxer motor bike, looking at buying a 1980 model to restore and use as an old classic to fun around the city with.

Any experience here?

I want something which will hold it's value once restored, yet is fun to ride around 2up.

I've worked on several original beetles including complete engine rebuilding. But never a motorcycle engine. Good luck and be sure to post pics as you go. It sounds like fun.

Not an answer to your question, but there was a guy I knew that had one, a "cafe racer". That thing was nice !

You couldn't of picked a more easier, simple motor to work on. Whatever you put into it you'll get out of it when you sell. That probably was one of the last bikes where you could literally tear the entire bike down on the side of the road if you had to. good luck you'll enjoy the ride. Wardie
