Alternative to wifi

Since you are looking at a computer screen now and may want to have more than one PC/MAC in the home you need to figure out how to get the Internet connection around the house.

Well, for MOST people I will strongly suggest a simple router and these:

"Bricks"

They work great and you are NOT spraying your internet connection around the hood. You can have one in every room in the house.

IF you already have a Laptop, fine, get a WiFi router and use these for the Kids PC/MAC and the old desktop you use.

Just some scattered thought from a Computer guy.

Awesome. Looks like it would be a similar price to a wifi network. Best buy looks like they are already sold out or them.

Use newegg.com or thenerds.net to buy the stuff online. NewEgg has the best prices, TheNerds has no sales tax...

I see they're finally starting to market the technology. I'm curious how it (if at all) would interfere with X10 stuff...

Personally, I'll stick with my a/b/g network with WPA2, TKIP, RADIUS, MAC lockdown, and secured beacon; works just fine. Oh, and all wireless IP traffic is encapsulated in IPsec.

But I'm not paranoid

i just limit the power on my router to only put out 50% signal, it doesnt make it past my front door
