Is this something I should worry about. No one has really stated why this happens, nor how to go about fixing it or preventing it. I would hate to blow my stuff up unnecessarily. THanks in advance

I think the biggest problem is caused by starter kick back. If your finger slips off the starter button or it doesn't start right up make sure the engine has completely stop turning before you hit the starter again. The problem is that the starter gears are getting into a bind and if you continue to try starting it something forced to give. Unfortunately in most cases it is the engine case. Just ask Jester. I think this is only a problem for 99s-02s. You can call your dealership and ask them if you have been replacing the starter gears. If so you might get lucky and they will tell you to bring it in.

All of the above good advise. You will be fine with just doing that. If you change compression (Up) or do a big bore then you need more juice to the starter.
