I Don't know anything about Harleys..But Why Do you have that filter on the shift cylinder???

And you want to make sure the Cylinder has some movement not just tight against the spacer..I use a spring instead of a spacer on all My installs..

Thanks for the reply,

The bike is a 2053cc turbo Kawasaki Vulcan.

The filter is on the exhaust port of the cylinder.

Yes, I will look to remount with a spring or some Teflon washers against the cylinder mount.

HE HE YOUR GOING TO SURPRISE SOMEBODY ARENT YOU?

Kool..I was wondering what that air filter sticking out in front was!!

And take the filter off the shift cylinder..it has no purpose if You ask Me..

ps.Post a pic of the whole bike..

The filter on the exhaust port prevent trash from entering on the back stroke
It also restricts air flow which will slow rod speed. Never heard of trash entering the cylinder on the return. I've dealt with cylinders for 20 years now and have ot seen it yet. If you're that concerned put a 1/4 hose barb on it with screening around it. You don't want to 1/2 shift or get neutral at high rpm shift speeds
