Bad apples in every bunch, but doesn't make all bad. I personally have never encountered a "BAD" officer, several arrogant ones though. Sometimes I wonder how my street personality would be if my profession put me constantly in harms way, but many had no respect for that profession. I might not be the most pleasant person to encounter either ( I do say might).

Recently however I ran up on a license check and the officers almost stop checking license to check out the busa. One jokingly asked if he could ride and my response was I'd give him the keys for a spin, but no male over the age of 12 was allowed on the back seat behind me. They all got a lil laugh out of that one.

I think they are just doing the job they chose to do. Most coppers I know look at it as just another job. Depending on what district they are in will determine how well they like their job. I think they do a good job and have thought about becoming a cop myself. I think the ghetto wears the men in blue out dealing with all the non-sense but much respect for those who serve society as they all do.
Pehaps from what I have heard is more crime would be stopped if arresting the scum wouldn't require so much freaking paperwork. One DUI for example and the poor cop is buried in hours of paperwork.

I am glad HeliBusa left the poll option on there! All of you that found it offensive...GREAT! I am happy and pleased as punch that you did. I did too. BUT we as a society have become too easily pursuaded to remove things that a FEW people feel is offensive. Hence we have laws that restrict the actions of the many to benefit the few. Hopefully one day HeliBusa's trend of not caving to shelter everyone from a not nice worded poll will catch on to the rest of the country and we will once again tell those whiners (HIGHLY EDITED on my part to eliminate profanity as this is a family friendly forum) to shut up and either like it or lump it. Maybe then this nation will turn around and get back to being strong. Rant over...for now smile.gif

And before I get slammed that almost everyone that replied wanted it removed I submit the following...as of the time of MY post there were 22 responses 61 votes and 292 views. Any way you slice it the complainers ( not meant in a derogatory way ) were in fact the minority.

I have no problems with the men in blue, I do have problems with our government and society, the moral decay is never ending. Regardless of our nations courts decisions, when an officer takes an oath, therefor he/she will uphold the laws. Remember people make the laws that they enforce. For the most part most officers have good character and integrity. I personally have a few good freinds that are law enforcement. Great people and like any other job, they too don't like all the things that come with the turf. So heres to the men and woman in blue... beerchug.gif

My 2 cents....

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

Man up... we all do things from time to time that may not fit within the guidelines... when you get caught.
Take it like a man, the Men & Women in Uniform are doing a very difficult job and deserve respect.

They are people, fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters... just like you and I.
They made the decision to make a difference by taking a job that pays little, but rewards well.

Semper Fi to those who serve and protect.

They are just doing a much needed job. As far as the last option....it needs to be there. I'm sad that there are people out there that would choose that option but 2 people voted for it sad.gif Wether they were serious or just trying to be funny (not) I don't know.

I think that the poll choices probably appeal to various age ranges. When I was much younger, the police were the enemy. They were the ones who gave me speeding tickets, the ones you had to watch out for if you were doing something illegal. They had a way of interfering with the type of "fun" my buds & I decided to engage in back then.

I somehow made it through that period and evolved into a responsible adult with a family. There have been a few occasions where a police officer was a great help to me. Of course, I now recognize that cops are people just like everyone else doing a job. A job that sometimes is very dangerous.

My experience with police has generally been very good. There are a few that rank pretty low on the Darwin scale, but they are a small minority.

So many criminals---horrible crimes against innocent people. Children--murder-and so on-- I thank those who wear the Badge.
But i never speed in neihborhoods, towns, always use my blinkers, always come to complete stop.
But speeding at 0505 am on a deserted road--perfect straight
kids are sleeping no cross roads----there they are hiding in the bushes lights off and i get nailed for 65 in a 45.....is he trying to protect me from myself or generating cash to the PD. yes it's against the law to speed--but in my humble opinion..speeding in the boonies is not a moral crime.
I will call it a dilemma that has no cure.
If a cop were to park on my street with radar--they would make a lot of money. But no they hide behind a fence and watch for people rolling through a four way stop sign in a 25 zone. AArrg...

The positive connotation drops to negative way too rapidly in this poll.
Basically, they do a job you couldn't pay me to do and I thank them for it.

Id like to see if the 2 people who chose the last option are gonna man up to it. Sure there are the bad ones out there, but that comment is not needed. I hope that if they ever decide to take that route, they get shot in the face and die a slow painful death. mad.gif mad.gif

Do you think they will? They won't say who they are, they are cowards. They prolly don't even have a reason to hate cops.......
I know this is a hard option to swallow for you and other LEO's, but unfortunately there are people who really do feel this way.....
Stay aware always, but don't think that most people hate you, most of us respect you, even when you have to hook and book.

Why would you wish that on anyone. And just because they would cause a cop harm. I would agree if the person was a child molester. I think children are the only ones that are truly innocent. Cops or almost any adult are not completly innocent. We as adults make our own stupid choices, but we are adults. Whatever we do to each other is one thing but why wish that kind of death on someone over causing harm to someone who asked for the job and position their in. I'm not saying shooting cops is Ok, it's not. But when was the last time someone got so upset because an Engineer was shot in the line of duty. I have always wondered why it is that when a cop dies that all the cops in a 500 mile radius need to go to the funeral. Cops are no different than the average citizen are they. So again, why shoot them in the face and watch them die a slow death. But a child has complete trust in us to watch over them and protect them. Now I would agree that if someone broke that trust and killed a child then I also would say shoot them and let them die slowly.
