A Monster Fairings Review / Bike Rebuild Thread

Holy crap that is a pile of lights...people will think you are a UFO.
Here in Long Island if the sand and poop roads don’t get you the shitty drivers will.
I have been riding for over 14 years and to me being seen is most important. I usually keep high beam on in the dense traffic areas to make sure people see me coming and don’t just rip out in front of me.

Glad to see you making progress! You’ll be really happy with the light output once done. To me, it was worth the trouble of doing the retrofit
poop I’m ready to find someone I can send my light to and do a retro lol.
Are there halos in those?

Yes, I just watched a video he posted on his thread and they Do ha halos. Mine are just 2 mini H1 projectors I got from the retrofit source. Is not a simple job, but is worth it. You end up with two low beams and two high beams.

Installed my freshly powder coated parts on the left side now, filled with oil and fresh fuel and started it up today. Looking to get my rear sets reassembled tomorrow and maybe get a test ride in this week.

So update, got the bike outside today for a test run, felt great to be riding it again, only thing was the front end has something going on.
Plan to chase that down now but all in all it’s back together and 90% to the completion point but still have more plans for customization which I will keep updated here. Now for updated pix

Just read this whole thread, I'm glad you are almost back where you started. Lessons learned along the way can be tough, but they're learned well.
Don't throw away your old fairings, you'll be surprised what you are able to sell them for as long as they don't have holes ground through them. People with race bikes are always looking for spare body parts.

bought a set of Monster fairings as after reading this review. they are brittle, the paint is over-sprayed everywhere. In short they barely got out of the box before I emailed them for a refund. F**k china plastics never again, no way no how. You're crazy to go with that sh*t!! The first time you his some wind that paint is gonna crack and spider. COMPLETE GARBAGE!

Overall I had a decent experience with them, I did have 3 pieces arrive with runs and over spray on cleared surfaces which were promptly replaced my Monster Fairings. I compounded and polished everything before installing, and I carried over every oem bumper, insulator, heat shielding, washers, the intake shields etc and I personally didn’t have any major issues.

Curious, do you have a gen 1 or a gen 2 ?

The fairings, even the OEM ones feel thin and brittle without the headlight, marker light etc installed. My thoughts all along were to get these as a hold over so I can accrue oem fairings to replace. @ $775 I was more than pleased but I am sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with them and apologize that this experience was a direct result of my review.

Did yours have a tank cover? How does it install? Does it appear and operate like factory after install? Thanks

Yes it did have a tank cover, with that though I had bought a mint take off tank but the striping I changed so it didn’t match. I was worried with the tank cover on that tank because I didn’t know if it would cause marking so I used the damaged tank under the cover. You would never know it’s a cover though.
There was a slight step up around the fuel door because of the cover but I put a carbon overlay to eliminate that.
@kiwi also runs a Chinese fairing set with tank cover as well.

The black powder coating on frame & rearsets is sick; goes very well!
