I feel really stupid. I obviously have no clue....really, I do , but I was not thinking straight. I think I was too fixated on the blueing aspect.

Forgive me for a brief attack of stupidity? I'm no mechanic and these things don't come naturally for me.

if it had a catalytic converter on it it would run hotter with being rich causing the cat to excessively heat up and in turn the exhaust would be hotter. I don't think the gen 2 has a cat tho. i only know very little about my 06.

Yes GEN2 has the catalytic converter , it is HUGE to meet EURO 3 compliance.
