Hey guys,

I have a Suzuki Hayabusa (Gen 3) and I noticed a small leak coming from behind the kickstand area.

  • It drips about 5–6 drops after each ride
  • The fluid is pink/red
  • I found the leak exactly at the small hole on the water pump housing (weep hole I think)
  • There’s also a slight burning smell after riding
  • No smoke, and the bike runs perfectly fine
I also checked the coolant reservoir and couldn’t clearly see the level, might be low.

My questions:

  1. Is this normal weep hole behavior or a failing water pump seal?
  2. Can I keep riding like this for now?
  3. Did anyone have the same issue on Gen 3 Busa?
Thanks

I'm not familiar with the Gen3 water pump yet, there's a weep hole? I'm trusting you that's what it is but it seems counterintutive that there would be a weep hole in a water pump. IDK, maybe there is. If there is, could this red/pink stuff be some kind of factory wax sealant melting out? Both my Gen1 and Gen2 ZX-14s expelled factory sealant onto the belly pans and exhausts, white and black. One day, a translucent glob left expelled under the fuel overflow tube. This red/pink color doesn't seem to coincide with the color of your coolant.

OEM coolant in hayabusa is blue, so very interesting are you sure it is coolant? Motul oil is red ;)
Clean everything out, start the bike and inspect from where it is leaking.

Yes, waterpumps Do have weep-holes to show internal seal failure/coolant leaks.

The picture above looks like oil, but it could be coolant on a dirty surface too, it's hard to tell from the picture.
