External fuel pump Question?

Hey guys,

Whats a good external fuel pump good for 350hp-400hp max that doesn't draw a lot of current.

I want to down grade from a Bosch 044, do I have to re tune the bike if I replace the pump with another one?
or should I beef up the electrical system for more output?

These are super popular and are physically the same size as the 044. They draw a touch over 9 amps at 43.5 PSI. The 044 is in the 11 amp range.

I'm using one of these: Walbro GSL394BX Walbro High-Pressure Inline Fuel Pumps | Summit Racing , mounted externally below and behind the engine .. Fits, but it's a damn tight squeeze ..

And I still get vapor lock on hot days when I sit in stop and go traffic !

It gets hot down there, you're boiling the fuel.

Yes, it does get hot there, but not nearly as the pump got sitting at the back of the engine, under the fuel tank .. Vapor lock was unavoidable before I moved the pump .. Now I only get it when I sit in traffic on a hot day ..

Any suggestons ? I'm all ears ..

Like this ? Still gets vapor lock on hot days (80+) when you sit in traffic .. I'm betting that the FPR and the secondary fuel rail soak up a lot of heat from the engine and radiate it into the fuel ..

My pump is located in my tail. I haven't ridden it yet in summer to heat to say if I will have problems or not, but the previous owner sure did. he didn't mention any issues.

I've mounted mine under the battery outside and have ridden in summer 35+ degrees Celsius and never had any issues. And no check valve either.

If I do get the Walbro or Aem I don't have to retune the bike right ? Because Lph looks about the same 240ish at 43psi, it's just less draw.

Flow rate is determined by injector opening time, not fuel pump capacity. The tune-up should be identical as long as your fuel pressure is the same.
