Don't know why but I've always liked the way Cafe Racers look? Something about em just intrigues me and makes me want one. My friends think I'm crazy! they're like you already have a badazz Harley and a missile on wheels you call a Busa WTF do you want an old café racer for?? I'm not a Brand guy or a Class guy I'm a BIKE guy..... if it looks good 2 me has 2 wheels and an engine Game On!

Does anybody have any experience with these types of bikes? I really like the Honda CB750. Reminds me a lot of the Busa. A ton of aftermarket parts available and it's been around forever and can be modified 6ways from Sunday. My biggest concern is how do these bikes ride? Anybody on here have 1? Obviously it's no Busa but I can't really take people's opinions on bikes and how they ride Unless they have a Busa background....
I get told all the time how this bike is fast or can do this and that and I get on 1 and it feels like I'm on a pocket bike ???

I've ridden one, and quite a few 70's streetbikes.
You'de be quite disappointed riding a stock one, but just a cruise up the road(aka, back in time)is fun.
If you put modern adjustable suspension, and use the brakes, wheels and tires too(just say gsxr1k), then it would obviously be much better.
Then you get into rake and trail, where the center of gravity is(especially if you're modding the frame), and of course the old bikes are heavy. Most big cc 4strokes are likely between 40 and 70hp max.
If you want real classic fun...get a 2stroke! Kawasaki, yes Kawasaki, 1000cc 3 cylinder. Ridiculous power potential.
They're all money pits, we know that, all in what you want.
Find an old bike on craigslist that you can test ride. Use your imagination from there for what you could do with it. Check your pockets, I hope they're deep:laugh::laugh:

Looks cool, and probably fun to ride.
The one problem is; it's easy to get dangerously carried away on. As in, you'll find yourself relaxed and enjoying it, and pushing that 40 year technology like your on your Busa.

I looked up the old CB 750's and I think they were around 470 lbs and if you look @ a stock 1 vs the pics I posted you can see a ton of stuff has been removed 2 give it that minimalist stream lined look. So I imagine that you could shed quite a few pounds off these bike. As for HP I know that it'll probably make less than a 1/3 of what my busa makes but it doesn't take away from the feel of the ride. Case in point my Nightrod doesn't make the HP my busa makes nor handles anything like it. Completely different ride but I still enjoy it! Wondering if this type of bike can offer something as well??

I know these things are money pits as is every other bike I start tweaking/modding  idk?? Cold outside and thinking about bikes

Look into old big cc 2strokes

Will Do!! :beerchug:

I don't know much about em, seen one 2stroke but I think it was like a 2 or 300cc and I'm not sure that would be enough 4me. What I liked about the CB 750 is how much stuff is readily available and the fact you can pick up 1 of these bikes to start with for less than a grand that's been sitting in somebody's garage or storage shed for the last decade

I love em. We have a bunch of folks here in Albuquerque who have various models and they are beautiful.

Stunning cb 750!
I love cafe bikes.

The 70's kawi h2 750 was bad azz, prices are much higher now than a cb 750 of a similar vintage.

skip ahead to 2:36 to hear it run.

cheers

I love them too and the CB750 was the engine that I first fell in love with as a boy. Never rode one but I'm sure they were slow a hell! But the idea of racing across Europe from café to café is something any motorcyclist with a heart beat would love. As for old bikes I would love to own/ride, I love 70's early 80's road racers like the KZ900.

Idk?? I guess some guys who ride a certain type of bike whether it be sportbike or cruiser only want2 stay in their perspective lanes so 2 speak. Good 2 know I'm not the only 1 who finds these bikes appealing :beerchug:

I'm trying 2 read up and learn more about em but the CB 750 has my eye right now. I would love 2 have 1 made like the pic I posted. Of course my own style added but basically that's what I want. Seen they make a ton of performance parts 4 the CB as well!! Big bore kits and all..... I seriously got a problem

Here you go, buy one off the showroom floor! The Triumphs are one of the originals as far as café racers go. These bikes look old but are pretty modern with stuff like fuel injection but it's hidden and looks like a carb.

Thanks 4 the tip Fallen but I've seen a few of them up close & personal. They aren't bad looking bikes but not what I'm looking for. If I'm gonna do it I want it 2 be an authentic "OG" café racer

I would however wouldn't mind owning that Triumph Tiger 1200XC adventure bike!!

Man that takes me back, I had a H1 that was painted black and gold (didn't have the *****in' bodywork). It was ported with big carbs and Denco expansion chambers. Clip-ons and rear sets. Didn't idle, ran like crap below 5000 rpm, killed every mosquito in the county but man when you are 16 years old in the 70s it was the shizzle

Rule of thumb is that a well built and tuned 2 stroke is as powerful as a 4 stroke that has double the cc's
