If this has already been posted forgive me...I cruise the .org regularly and seen the banter about 1000 cc MotoGP...but on p. 20 Sport Rider mag they state in 2012 they will go to the liter bike to save R&D costs, use some of the components off of regular production bikes, and perhaps allow some of the high tech MotoGP stuff to be used on street bikes...Great picture of "the doctor" in a slide. One of the reasons, noted in the article, they went from the 990 cc down to an 800 cc bike in MotoGP was because of the high speeds and rider safety on the bigger bikes...apparently that became a mute point with Danny Pedrosa, the Spainard, psoting a speed of 214 mph at Mugello in Italy last year on Honda's Repsol 800cc. Some of the other interesting things mentioned were how World Superbike Championship who use production bike racing will feel about the incursion into their turf. Another topic of hot debate is the use of electronic-computer based controls for the bike. Read another article where many of the top racers feel that they should be toned down alot or eliminated.. like I said before, I think "the doctor" could win on a skateboard if that was the format..but I feel "elbows"...it will only enhance his campaigns since it is the platform he has raced for many years...what are your thoughts about this? 2hip

I love it !!!!

Bikes are getting toooooooo tech. , I want to see more rider involvement. Not a rider saying, This Mule can only win if ridden out control and all computer systems working. Anyway, bikes are to be enjoyed and lately they're getting where you have to be a computer whiz to work on'em. I can appreciate all the gee whiz stuff, but enough is enough. Kinda like Toyota, when you add all that gee whiz stuff you have to cut somewhere to make money. Me, I would rather have less stuff but with HIGHER QUALITY for the $$$$$$$. I looked at the New Ducatis, and Woooooooooooooo ! No workie on that one. So, if they come, THE NEW NORTON will be my next Fun Cafe Racer Bike ! Coffee is GOOD !!!!!!!!!

And the Busa, well it's always my travel Bike

Ogre, part of the problem that BMW may face is that they don't have any top echelon riders...however, that being said, money is always a big factor in making a top echelon rider walk from a sponsor. The second thing is...Aprilla is one very serious bike and already won last year...let the games begin...But still...just like in Golf...it ain't the equipment ...it's the guy swinging the club...2hip

Glad to hear they are going to the 1000s. I'm all for scaling back on the computer controls. It will bring the riding skills more into play.

I think they should use all the tech they can in Moto GP. After all is is the equivelent of Formula one for motorcycles. I don't think it should be all about the rider, there is an entire staff of techs and engineers behind those guys that help them do what they do.

I am up for more rider control of the bike and a lot less electronic control of the bike. Hopefully this will help some teams be more competitive in the races.
