I am finally throwing my personal hat in the mill. I am completing a full Stage III Turbo bike all built in my shop with a Garrett GT35R DB Turbo, we have enough fuel, we have a sealed plenum, we have a cooled oiling system and best of all we are water/air intercooled. Motor is ready for 500+ but I may turn it down to 450 at first.. I am putting all this on a very solid LSR chassis my black/yellow ZX-14 "Chance"..

Tires for 240 and up?
Any other advice??

Ok here is the set-up so far:

HPC Hand Ported Head (light work)
APE Heavy Duty Valve Springs
Stock Cams Degreed 105/105
JE Turbo Pistons 9.5:1
Carrillo H Rods
Garret GT35R
Custom Exhaust
Water/Air Intercooler
AEM Boost Controller
Aeromotive Fuel Pump and Regulator
650CC Injectors

bike made 395 HP and 209 Foot pounds without the Intercooler at a mere 17.5 psi.....we can go 28 psi..

There are suppose to be a bunch of EXPERTS on this board, hoping to get some real life hands on type info here. I know this turbo adventure could end up bad as I will go as fast as the thing I am riding will.

tire choices between 213 and 240 aren't much different. Since none are rated to such high mph levels. The more popular tires are the Michelin and Bridgstone. That doesn't mean your personal choice is right or wrong. Compound is very important for the tires longevity. Most choose a medium compound when available.

As far as advice, I would say to start with more moderate goals below the 240mph mark.

As far as experts, I don't think anyone has claimed such a statement on this board but I could be wrong. As for hands on real life experience I can't name anyone greater than Scott. That's why he is titled as the Sulton of Speed.

I speak with Scott at the events, three times he has praised me for my tuck and I truly respect his opinion. I won't go 240 this year. Someone else might though.

Things are coming along very smooth: I will have consult with Wild Bill on what to expect.

You could always go with the Michelin HPX's. Tread compound designed for sustained high speed.

My wife has reminded me I am under contract with Avon until 2010 so I must run their sneakers no matter the new power levels. Picking the right one now has me narrowed down to the Avon Viper Extreme which we know is good to 217 MPH and the Avon Super Sport V2...has been 205 with no issues.

awesome looking bike...my busa is all blacked out but i came very close to painting it a similar blue color on all the powder coated black. Thats impressive power....what type of fuel? and one more question have you guys ever dynoed a bike with a 240 tire before and after? My bike uses at GT40R and at 18lb of boost on pump fuel Im making 362HP with 3 degrees of timing pulled but i'm running also a 240 rear tire and RC component rear wheel which i know weights literally a TON!!! I also have stock cams and i need to eventually put some turbo cams in it due to the fact the turbo is so large and builds up alot of back pressure with the stock cams

Only advice I could give, from me hanging around the LSR crowd, is that the Avons tend to come apart too quickly and could be dangerous. Just what I was told, so take it for what it is worth. I did see some deterioration on my Avon 200 from some light burnouts.

Might want to drive down my way some saturday and we'll go talk to Todd and Deb Dross (I know you have already met them). I think they are some of the best at this, and Deb is fast becoming a household name in LSR. Todd and Deb are real smart and a pleasure to talk to.

Just my 2-cents Greg, and good luck buddy. You've got bigger nads than me wanting to ride a stage III down the mile. I am still trying to get up enough courage to ride my stage I there.

Be safe my friend!

Tom.

I am using VP Import 122 Octane, its expensive stuff but its super safe especially for long sustained runs, nothing on the 240 tire but the extra weight will certainly help with traction for sure. Trying to keep this bike really short to help with traction issues. Riding and learning to launch with the N/A and NOS bikes will certainly help. I just need to get a lot of seat time because these turbo's act way differently under power (torque) than a 300 HP NOS bike. :beerchug:

I am going to run on low boost first to get use to things...

Its OEM blue
