I see people complaining about paying more taxes, but I see it raise my taxes, as long as it gets more teachers in schools and more police officers on the streets. Americans dont know how easy they have it, taxes here are small compared to people in Europe. I will pay more as long as Everyone gets healthcare, and everyone gets free education and I mean college education too.

Protect the MIDDLE CLASS and u will help everyone in the end. Bush gave tax cuts for the RICH not middle class. Obama is helping the middle class. Y is that so horrible.

And they need to set a cap on how much people in the Gov't can make, I think $200K a year is more than enough, and then send the other $800k to help the US economy. Really teachers make $30K a year, and police officers at 40K a year, whats wrong with this photo. Managers at McDonalds make more.

The Government is wasting more for pork projects and blowing the rest on themselves. They vote for their own raises every year, and don't do the same for other Government employees.

I got my NJ motorcycle registration renewal today and it's $65.00... It was $57.00 last year. Why isn't my registration $25.00? I don't understand where all this money is going. I don't mind paying for social services (school, police, fire, hospital, etc.), but taxes are going up and quality of life seems like it's going down.

but to truly make change, you need to make real changes in spending.

so where do you cut? giving pelossi a cut in pay does not do much to a budget that Billions of dollars in the red.

On another website a guy was saying he is paying .033% more in taxes this year. He also said by the way everybody was complaining he thought it would be more. So he didn't mine paying a couple of bucks more if the poor benifitted from it. Then another person said he didn't need anymore reasons to complain about the current president. I just don't see why the small amount is a reason to get pissed off. When Bush was in office my taxes when up 2% and most people didn't seem to care.

You can't make the poor rich by making the rich poor. When the Government gives something to someone for free, there someone else who worked for it and received nothing for their work. I don't agree with many of the programs the Goverment is spending my money on. It is our money the Goverment is spending, not theirs. They seem to have lost sight of that.

As to the Bush only gave tax breaks to the rich comment, you need to do some homework.

So you find it perfectly acceptable to force the hard working citizens of this country to pay for the benefits of those that are unwilling to make an effort to support themselves? Yes, there are some that are unable, but I am speaking of the ones that are unwilling. You support this? The top 50% pay 96.03% (Down from 2000 figure: 96.09%). The bottom 50%? They pay a paltry 3.97% of all income taxes. The top 1% is paying more than ten times the federal income taxes than the bottom 50%! And who earns what? The top 1% earns 17.53 (2000: 20.81%) of all income. The top 5% earns 31.99 (2000: 35.30%). The top 10% earns 43.11% (2000: 46.01%); the top 25% earns 65.23% (2000: 67.15%), and the top 50% earns 86.19% (2000: 87.01%) of all the income.

I know of no government employee that makes more than $250,000/yr. If you believe that government employees are making $1,000,000 annually, you might need to check your facts.

Secondly, I know of no teacher that makes $30K annually. Perhaps in some impoverished areas this might be true. Even so, they work 9 months out of the year with the option to work 12 for additional salary. Most teacher salaries I have seen are in excess of $40K and range up to $100K for lifers.

Law Enforcement officers salaries are low, I agree. Even so, you're talking about Federal versus local government. This is not a national issue, it is a local issue, teachers included. The Federal Government does not set pay rates for state and local agencies.

Paying taxes is fine, and they take a huge chunk from me. Which wouldn't bother me until I moved to Boston...

And the schools are poor, The roads are in the worst condition I've ever seen, crime is out of control, Police are ( I will be polite and assume they're not enough of them) and our public transit is in more debt than any other transport system IN THE WORLD....

So wheres my money Going???

I went to Vancouver BC where taxes are similar (VERY HIGH) and there roads are new, the crime is low, the schools are outstanding, the health care is free, and the skyrail is incredible.

Its a matter of Cost vs. Benefit.

My point? Im moving.

THIS is the problem.. it is not happening this way.

Our school district alone just took a $9 Million budget cut ... My pay has been frozen for 3 -5 years (no raises WHATSOEVER... and I am in the middle of getting my MASTERS degree... what good is that??) and for the 2010 - 2011 school year I am also losing $2000/yr and 3 unpaid vacation days to be taken when the administration sees fit. Not to mention all of the extra jobs I do for extra cash... such as coaching, buis driving, score keeping... all of that is being cut as well.

Cutting education, will lead to an increase in illiteracy, drop out rates, etc... which will eventually lead to an increase in crime... It is a snowball effect. There aren't enough poilice officers now.. with an increase in the crime rate the social scales will tip.. and it isn't going to be in the "middle class"s favor.

And on top of it... my property taxes are skyrocketing.. so in essence I am getting hit from both ways.

Managers at McDonalds work 60-70 hours a week so actually they don't make more if take what the earn and divide it by the hours worked

It is not the taxes but the waste of our money. As far as less taxes then Europe -please-. We are well on are way, which is the problem. We will have a VAT tax plus income tax with in years, and -oh please- Health Care is going to cost us billions in taxes starting from insurance companies and manufactures passing on their costs. All this for Turtle crossings and balloon studies.

I know of plenty teachers and law enforcement officers making close to $100K. You are talking about BASE starting salaries here. You need to get your facts right.

AT&T has reported A BILLION DOLLAR loss for the first quarter as well as
other companies...Corporations are not evil, they provide jobs, as Obamanation
taxes them...who pays? Not only in product $$ increases but in jobs.

A V.A.T. tax will becoming soon unless the Senate and/or the House
returns to common sense control. Take bread for example...the farmer sells the
wheat to the baker and applies the V.A.T. tax. The baker makes the bread and
sells it to the grocer...and adds another V.A.T. tax. The grocer sells it to you
and...adds another V.A.T. tax. It's comming...(heaven forbid we cut spending for
the worthless)

Tell me again Mr. Obama...how the middle class "should be thanking me".

I have three family members who are teaches, one just retired. 100.000? Please tell me what school district EVER pays that much, pleassseee.
