Well it looks like I'm missing something from your post...
Check my first quote and you'll see.....
I will politely ask one last time.... do not discuss that type of material on this message board.

The negative comments have been removed, and if you wish to talk about it further, do so using private message or email.

I don't want to turn into a 2nd grade teacher and reiterate the rules of the board.
Cache...For the most part members are just responding to what was written out of shock...I haven't read a word that leads me to believe there's going to be a major war with words...But at the same note you all can do whatever you wish with the thread...I only posted it because when I learned that he had died I was surprised because they had kept his illness a secret...

stunnaman, read what I posted after you in the 1st page.

I was glad u posted it, I almost did right before I saw you did...

Chris you know I love you but you are taking this moderating thing a bit too far. What board rule are you referring to?

Doug's policy has always been that we could discuss any topic as long as we refrained from pornography, profanity and wanton disrespect of other members. RSD crossed the line and Rev took care of it. But aside from RSD's original statement, this thread has been pretty mild compared to a lot of others I could name. Adults should be able to converse about controversial issues without it being a big deal. As long as people respect each other, I think you should chill.

BTW, thought we had an appointment today. Did you blow me off? Were my comments on this subject that bad? (Just kidding)

Hey Random, we need to hook up. Have you heard of a crew called Full Tilt Riders up there?

What board rule are you referring to?
every member agred to:
"You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this BB to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening," yada yada....

RSD crossed the line and Rev took care of it.
Other than it was in two more quotes, which I removed.

Just trying to prevent something from getting out of hand. Not to say it was going to, but ya never know!

Captain is tired of dealing with things that could have been prevented. He has asked me to take over for him, so I am. As Administrator, there are alot of things that need to be done behind the scenes, and this just happens to be one of those duties.

Seriously, I just dont want something that doesnt belong on this board to escalate into anger and loss of members.

I get it. You didn't like those guys re-posting the statement in quotes. Unfortunately, you can't make it go away by deleting it. A comment like that should be grounds for banning. Ban one or two people who profess hate, and you can take the rest of the year off.

unfortunately... a letter was typed. Perhaps I should proof read what I type.

if you all think I have something against black people or african americans or whatever term might be considered politically correct... you are wrong.

Remember when RSD when over the top , pi$$ed off a bout a white stealin' the black man's music ?

I happen to like what thinker an most of the other folks(who are not white) write on this board. I feel most of them show extreme inteligence.

If folks think I'm racist ,thats fine. I am in a way prejudice.
Very much so. I am very prejudice. I actually dislike entire groups of people. I dont care for the Neo-Nazi's,I dont care for Klu Klux Klan... I don't care much for them religious groups that want us all to die because we dont believe in their krap. So, I do condem entire groups of people.
Do I dis-like people based on their skin color...no.
My sister is a full Indian(Ilove her dearly), my best friend was born in India. I have some very cool friends that were born in China. I could go on. Big deal.
Couple years ago when I heard that one of the board members was into halibut fishin' an' some friends were doin' a charter bisiness, I invited the guy up...in WASN'T white.
I think certain words are often asociated with certain groups, and I dont really feel there's anything wrong with that. I'm just po' white trash myself. A word or a phrase, used to describe one person , to me, that word or phrase doesn't condem their whole race. I use questionable words everyday in my speech, they might be racist to you , but their not to me. Somebody sent me a PM, asked for an' appology. Wont happen. I've used that word to describe lots of people of different races. I have dozens of words an' phrases, that might be questionable to all sorts of people.
One of my good friends at work lost a leg in a motorcycle crash. He now has a fake leg. He kind of walks with a limp/hop type motion. I call him IHOP. Not out of disrespect, but out of friendship. When he's in the gym,I wont turn away replused by the missin' limb, I'll say nice dead lift for a one legged bastid. Sorry folks, but I'm too fuggin' old to change the way I talk now.

I cant an' wont appologize for something that if I typed for another 2 hours, you MIGHT come to understand.

It'd be pointless. Plus, I've had a bad month, was probably half cut when I typed it.

If anybody seriously believes I'm a racist... thats yer right.

I'm too much of a mean bastid for this type of friendly board anyway...
you folks, have a nice life.

In My first post, I said I was surprised to see that come from RSD. I have never seen anything racist come from you. But dude, if you wrote that word, abbreviated it, or thought it in the context of criticising a black man, it either means you are racist or very stupid/insensitive (at least at that moment). You are way too sharp not to know how that was going to go over.

It is true that for some reason black people use that word as part of our slang, and I realize that some white people have become entrenched in the black culture enough to use it as slang also. But that only applies when you know people and know what they mean. But for anyone, white or black to use it in a public forum, full of people they don't necessarily know, that is bad bad bad idea. The unavoidable consequence is that people will think that you are a racist because you sure sounded like one.

Its just not politically correct I guess. If you didn't know that, now you do.

C'mon all...everyone is jumping ALL OVER Rubb, ripping him up about this thing, talking about this whole "innocent until proven guilty thing" to prove their points, when it appears convenient...but who the heck is to say EXACTLY what Rubb typed??? Only Rubb knows, and maybe HE doesn't even know what the heck he had typed while he was ripping off his diabtribe about Johnny. Millions of words begin with 'N'...everyone is in an uproar because Mr. Cochran was black and Rubb used the word Ghetto in his post, then typed one word followed by an elipse and a capital 'N.' Yes, it could have meant that, it could have meant anything...Mr. Brown actually seems to be the only one that asked Rubb to explain what the heck he meant before jumping on him. I am relatively new here, but if you PM'd Rubb and he told you to get bent, are you really surprised? That's Rubb! And I don't think that's bad. He doesn't have to EXPLAIN himself to anyone and he shouldn't, with the exception of, possibly, the moderator should the moderator ask for clarification. Moreover, I have seen allusion to rights and dignity and freedom of speech, etc...yes, this is a public forum, and it is moderated, and yet things will be said. People are passionate about things, lots of people jumped to a convenient conclusion here w/out any cause, connected dots one and four and skipped two and three because they thought they saw a common path: "Ghetto" and "...N". Lots of folks here have stayed out of this thing all together, myself included, until Thinker's last post. For God's sake, rub the salt around a bit more, Thinker, for it might bring tears of regret.

I asked RSD for an apology, in a PM. He refused, as is his right. I wanted to let him know that the connotation of what he posted was deeply offensive to me. Cache, I don't wish to make waves on this board, indeed I enjoy all the banter back and forth between members with differing views. I would not let that particular comment pass in face to face conversation, and I didn't feel comfortable letting it go unchallenged here. If you, or anyone else feel that I handled it in an inappropriate fashion then I apologize. I agree that this is not the forum in which to air one's views on this subject, but I was not the one that brought it up. As I said to RSD in my PM to him, there are many different colors of people on this board that have or would help each other in time of need. I don't think he intended to insult anyone, but the fact is he did. Do with this thread what you will, you are in charge, but to let it pass unchecked is something I could not do. All I ask is that while people have the right to say whatever they want, they should be mindfull of the manner in which they say it. That being said I'm done discussing it.

Mr Brown,

he said it, you called him on it, we cleaned it up, and all is well. This thing could have gone in one of many directions, and this is a better direction than we've seen in the past.

Well done everybody.

I guess now I'll find some scumbags to ban for life, then take the rest of the year off..................................

Well Hell! Guess this got all fuggin outta hand...

Whatever, Nice to see everyone come outta the woodwork to Pile on the RSD love fest here. For some folks it makes sense, some it doesn't.

RANDOM NICK, you need to STFU. Either get over the whole RSD thing or leave, this RSD bashing at any opportunity is getting really old, if you have such an incredible hard-on for RSD, PM him love letters or something.

Now then, I am not going to defend RSD's use of the letter "n". I think we all know the implication if not maybe RSD's intent. All I ask is that we move on, that those offended by RSD's comment PM him, ask him WTF is up? But basically hear it from him, give a listen and give him a chance.

RSD "I THINK" frequently is playing a ROLE here on the board, he's not being REAL he's playing a part. Sometimes I think he gets carried away when looking for the SHOCK Value and I am pretty sure this is the case here. Unfortunate for sure, but not neccessarily "MEANT" if that makes any sense. Point is I don't believe RSD hates anyone, I think he just tripped on his poncho strings and took the shock value a little too far...

He's been here for 2 years and this has NEVER been one of RSD's calling cards.

ANYWAY, NOT Trying to justify anything, so much as ask that he be given a second chance because I do not believe his action were motivated by hate in any way.

FWIW

Rev.

gee thats a shame...

well, when you choose a profession that defends the likes of a dirtbag like OJ...

I guess you get whats coming to you.

poor johnnie...now all we can do is remember him by his trial slogan...

pure ghetto...   "Glove doesn't fit, gots to aquit".

bye bye loser...  oops sorry, actually he won.

a one way ticket....   poor johnnie....bye bye fughead.
Your ignorance and bigotry are disgusting. Johnnie Cochran was an educated, well spoken man. He was a lawyer, do you really think he spoke like you? Most of the time your little comments and complaints are comical, but I suppose you couldn't hide your racism any longer could you? I  would feel sorry for someone like you, but I'm sure you don't want sorrow from a Black man do you? If you had taken the time to actually read what Cochran said, you would realize that he was not "ghetto" as you put it, and was in fact a skilled orator. (That means he could talk good) I'm sure this will be difficult for you to comprehend, but not all Black people are ignorant, ghetto-dwelling gangsta's. Some of us own our own homes, have college educations (we're allowed to go to school now), and enjoy riding Busa's.
Thankyou!

Well Busa_05, I have known RSD for a long time and we have a mutual respect for each other. He would be the first one to tell me to "shoot straight and tell it like it is".  That is how he is and that is how I am. Our styles differ, but the truth will always be the truth. I don't care whether you like what I say. I know that RSD will read it, and I believe that he thinks about it. That is all that I can ask.

So lets just say you are right and that another word should have gone there. OK, in the context of the sentence, it would have to be a noun, right. Boy, I am having trouble coming up with a noun beginning with that letter that would make sense in that sentence. But lets say I did come up with one. Lets say that Nickel makes sense in that sentence. OK, then I would ask myself why would he not spell out such an innocent word? But I would still come to the conclusion that this is a very intelligent man we are talking about. He would know what connotations would come out of using that letter in that context. It would be just too obvious for him to miss.

But again, giving the benefit of the doubt that you allude to. Suppose he didn't anticipate what would happen. Should I have asked for clarification. OK, I will give you that. I should have asked for clarification.

You are right, RSD doesn't have to explain himself, but you failed to recognize that he did come back with a reply that did denounce racism, but conspicuously absent was a sentence saying "that is not what I meant, Nickel is what I meant." I know RSD to be honest, so if he wrote that I would believe it and I would follow it up with a public apology, a private apology and a dozen roses.

Jumping all over him? Rubbing salt into the wound? Looking for tears of regret? Nope! If the man were truly a racist, he wouldn't care what I had to say anyway. Tears of regret? Nooooo! It wasn't me who asked him for an apology. If that is the way he feels, he shouldn't have to apologize for it. I actually can respect that. I just feel that expousing such things in a public forum like this is unacceptable.

Rev, I do not believe that anyone has a hard on for RSD. I know I certainly don't. If this was all one big mistake, it was a careless one. And if it was all a big misunderstanding, I will be the FIRST to apologize as soon as I hear that it was all a big misunderstanding. Will anyone learn from mistakes? What is there to learn? If you think that its no big deal to let that word slip out or be implied in the description of a black man, then take it from a black man who really doesn't care what people think: It is not OK to use that word or imply it, and it isn't very smart to set yourself up such that people will think that you are using that word.

All I want to say is that Mr. Cochran was a pretty good guy. My prayers are with him and his family.

Who cares. Every one eventually dies. He is just famous cause he got a cold blooded killer off, had OJ been white he would have been on death row. More ex's kill their ex's and go to jail and all with 1/2% of the evidence of what was on OJ, Hmmm sounds good to me, Also OJ failed he lie detector test. so did that scum bag peterson. their all low lifes the killers and the lawyers. good ridden one less scum bag lawyer. may they all die horribly as the victums they laugh at to the bankk who did not survive their clients deeds.
