Wash your hands and face frequently and do what you can to boost your immune system (Vitamin C). Other than that just have to wait and see.

BTW, pigs are nasty, so why not call it swine flu!! :)

Every year an average of 36,000 people die from the flu. How is it any scarier now that we've given one a name? If 36,000 people died this year from the "swine" flu, this entire country would be in an uncontrollable panic. ???

Agreed. I think cause no one is suppose to have any immunity to it.? So it is easier to catch? So more people could get it and more people would die?

Seems to be hitting youths to middle age though, .....right?

It's hitting all age groups. It's hitting Mexico harder because their health care system is in shambles. It shouldn't impact the U.S. very much so long as people get the appropriate care when they show symptoms.

With that being said, unfortunately our system is swamped with idiots who sneeze and think they have the swine flu. I went to the pharmacy yesterday to get my blood pressure medicine and the place was a zoo. There were dozens of people in line to fill prescriptions for Tamiflu. The power of suggestion wears stupid people out.

seems to be doubling everyday......I am with DACol.....eat more pork.

This can get serious ....fast.

Back in 1976 or 79 there was a break out of Swine Flu. PSA's scared the living shid out of people, told them they are going to die if they get it. Only 1 peson died from it back then. 40 million people got a vacination...over 500 developed a rare neuroligical disorder from the vacination. Now they say there is no vacination.........what the hell did they give 30 years aog?

Watch out for the vaccines.. Linked to autism. I won't say it is hype rather a well merited advisory and an opportunity for the C.D.C and W.H.O to flex their muscle showing us how well our tax dollars are spent. My extended family in MX is hunkered down. Luckily they had advanced warning due to my cousin in law being an MD...
You don't want to mess around with a potential pandemic that will take the life out of healthy adults. Luckily, I am pretty far from the epicenter but will be extra cautious while traveling this week. Upon arrival here this past Saturday in Manila, thermal cameras were set up to screen passengers.. Nice to know they are taking action worldwide.

1918 flu pandemic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

. : The Great Pandemic : : The United States in 1918-1919 : .
The Legacy of the Pandemic

No one knows exactly how many people died during the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic. During the 1920s, researchers estimated that 21.5 million people died as a result of the 1918-1919 pandemic. More recent estimates have estimated global mortality from the 1918-1919 pandemic at anywhere between 30 and 50 million. An estimated 675,000 Americans were among the dead.

675 thousand dead in 1918 in America and that's with a much smaller population.

Just ask my Mother In Law (she's 92) what she thought about the Swine Flu and was told both her Grand Father and Grand Mother died from the Flu in 1918 ! All she said was, "I remember being told by my mother, there were Lots and Lots of people who Died" .

P.S. I talked to the Pharmacist today, she was telling me that this flu has onset of symptoms within 48 hours of exposure, instead of the normal 7-10 days because it's a new virus with no defenses. So, If anyone brought it to the bash with them, we'll know in the next day or so. IF ANYONE FROM THE BASH GETS SICK, PLEASE POST!

Having a low immune system I have to be careful, just wash my hands more, stay away from large crowds, and if cant be helped ware a mask over the nose and mouth. Not to worried right now, no cases in AZ. yet, but will be with all the boarder jumpers.
