1) looks/styling

2) torque and performance at all RPM's

3) I like to ride long distances and did not want to lose the aggressive seating position

4) Stability

5) Reputation of being the fastest production bike, aka ego stroke

6) Rarity, don't see as many BUSA's as the other sport bikes

7) I like to pay more for my insurance

Hey vman, you stole my thunder. I mentioned torque just before your post, see item #2

I got it because I think it is the best looking bike out there, because I don't want to wheelie every time I get on the throttle, it is solid, tons of torque, fast, a good drag bike, comfortable for one or two up, and is the best looking bike out there!

The Busa makes a better all around bike. Also if you ride alot and go any distances the 1000 isn't so friendly.

I myself went into the dealer to buy an 03' all green ZX12 and walked out the door with Busa paperwork(they had to order my blue/silver).
I did the same thing. I was going in to look at and pick up an 02' Zx12 Black/Gold and saw the red black busa. Sat on both, started both, and went with the Busa.

I think all you guys covered mine too.
1000 is 90% track, 10% street.
I ride 10% track, 90% street
Busa is 100% everything all at once... just has it all.

It is the best looking bike ever made!
You don't have to rev it to 20,000 to make it pull!
I believe this bike was made for someone exactly my size.  6'1" 205

I have ridden the 1000 and it is definitely a fun bike but it does not compare to the comfort of my busa. I wouldn't trade it for anything. The 1000 is obviously lighter and is much more manuverable. Just depends on what kind of riding you want to do. Just my 2 cents

I broke my back in the Army in '03. Cant stand the rake of the 1000's anymore. Can ride the Busa for hours without hurting.

I went out to look at like 4 different models that I was interested in. GSXR 1K was one of them. I brought my wife to sit on all four of them with me because she often rides on the back. I had pretty well decided on the Busa anyway but she cinched it, by far the most comfy for a passenger.

At first I was partial to the 1000 , having owned the gsxr 750 for my last bike . But comfort and the reputation of the Busa being King for so many years changed my mind . I am a very satisfied customer ! Either way , U can't really go wrong ,'cause Suzuki RULES !

I also think the busa is a much more body friendly bike after a few hours riding, like what was already said,it depends alot on what kind of riding you like to do,friends you ride with..etc.Friends you ride with doesn't always matter, all my friends have zx12's,gixxer1000's or something of that nature, all around the same age as me (34)but i bought a 05 busa. When they get real agressive in the corners i am close behind ,when we come out of the corners i am happy to let them hear my yosh when i go by.Ithink the busa is a awsome ride because it,s so diversified.HF
