What do you think? Interesting line up this year.. lots of changes...new bikes...

I think Doug Chandler will shock everyone and win, it's time, he want's it bad, he knows his bike. Alot of the others have a lot of new changes to deal with.

(Imagine me, mister anti-kawa betting on Team Muzzy!)

Come'on, post your predictions.. let's see who is the closest.. I might even update this later and guess the 2nd & 3rd place riders.

The man with the #1 plate will take the win......I don't think either RC51 will finish the race (have they tested this new bike for 200 miles?) Watch out for the Duc's, just might finish this year. Doug in 4th.

Just my guess from pit road... :)

Maladin is an awesome racer.. but he wons on points. Smart player! Does he have it in him to win Daytona? I don't know.. . But I bet he will get some decent points.

Nicky is awesome, will the new RC51 carry him the whole way?

Miguel beat Matt last year by 14/100's. He does have the bike & will ride a smart race.

BTW, his trap speed in todays test sessions:

179 176 178 181 mph.....

out 750 ss did 176mph...

miguel, never seen anybody fall off so much last year, he needs some better luck hope he wins if not hayden or maldin

Daytona Practice Times Show Mladin (Superbike) and Nicky (600)
Quickest

by Dirck Edge

Official practice began yesterday for this weekend's AMA Superbike race at Daytona International Raceway in
Daytona Beach, Florida. Practice also took place for the AMA 600cc Super Sport race this weekend.

Yoshimura Suzuki's Mat Mladin was quickest during the first day of official practice, with Kawasaki's Doug Chandler
and Honda's Nicky Hayden second and third fastest in the Superbike category, respectively.

Honda's Miguel Duhamel was having neck pain that limited his time on the superbike, and kept him from riding
practice at all on the 600. There is no indication that Duhamel will miss today's practice sessions and qualifying, or
that he will miss the racing this weekend.

In 600 Super Sport practice, Honda's Nicky Hayden went quickest around the high speed track, with Kawasaki's new
team member, Eric Bostrom, second fastest. Below are the official times reported by the AMA for the top 10 riders in
each category.

Miguel Duhamel recently stated that he would really "go for it" during qualifying for Sunday's prestigious AMA
Superbike 200 mile race -- he wants the coveted gold Rolex watch awarded to the pole winner. We'll keep you
posted.

Ducati's Troy Bayliss Takes Superbike Pole for Daytona 200

by Dirck Edge

Sunday's prestigious Daytona 200 Superbike race will find Ducati's Troy Bayliss on pole position. Bayliss, who has
never before raced at Daytona, was a quick study as he blitzed through to a very fast time, edging Suzuki's Mat
Mladin by .008 of a second. Mladin will grid in second spot, ahead of Honda's Nicky Hayden and Ducati's Larry
Pegram, who will fill out the front row.

The second row is led by Kawasaki teammates Doug Chandler and Eric Bostrom, with Honda's Miguel Duhamel
qualifying seventh, and Ducati's Steve Rapp qualifying eighth.

In the post-qualification press conference, Bayliss was calm in discussing his performance, and humble about his
chances in Sunday's race. He noted that he never before raced at Daytona, and had never before dealt with pit
stops for tire changes. Mladin, meanwhile, felt he could have gone quicker, but problems with his "fast lap" tire held
him back. Nicky Hayden also felt he could have gone quicker on the new Honda v-twin RC51.

Honda's Miguel Duhamel was disappointed with seventh place -- still suffering neck pain and spasms.

In final qualifying for tomorrow's 600 Super Sport race, Honda's Kurtis Roberts broke the track record for a 600 to
take pole, with Kawasaki's Eric Bostrom in second, followed by Honda's Nicky Hayden and Kawasaki's Doug
Chandler. The 600 race at Daytona is always a thriller, and tomorrow's race should be a real treat. This is the only
time all year that three-time AMA Superbike champion Doug Chandler will ride the 600 class, and the Kawasakis
were apparently very fast and well set-up for a redesigned bike. Honda has the depth, however, taking four of the
top six qualifying spots (the only bike in the top six other than the Kawasakis of Bostrom and Chandler).

Somewhat surprisingly, Yamaha's Tommy Hayden qualified back in 11th position. Tommy had been on pole more
than once last year in the 600 class, and battled his brother Nicky throughout the year for the championship before
finishing second overall. Indeed, the 600 field is so deep that the man way back in 13th place in qualifying,
Yamaha's Jamie Hacking, was a race winner last year in the 600 class. We'll have a thorough race analysis
tomorrow.
