6k has a slight blue to it. It gives great light output and the color stands out and makes you very visible in traffic. I also run the two amber running lights so you know it's a bike and not a car with a light out.

I've got a 6K set I bought on here a couple of years ago from BigGeorge...unfortunately, the high beam ballast crapped itself, but the low still works like a champ; it's bright enough that I can ride sensibly down a country road at night & see clearly with a daylight-only visor on my lid...

I currently own the DDM tuning kit and it has around 6k miles on it... It is a great improvement over stock specially for 50 bucks...

I installed Xentec's 8000K HIDs they say their kits are supposed to have a 0.03% failure rate on them. We will see. The kit was only $20.

what # has the purpleish hue to 'em?
the higher the kelvin number the more "blue" you see.. 4500-6000 is pretty much white and provide the most usable light and the 12K is on the blue side of the spectrum..

The advantage of sticking with some of the "name" brands is accurate measurement of the kelvin ratings.. Not all brands are accurately labeled to K ratings..

15000k will be purple. i'd say get a retrofit with 4300k bulbs. better output, nicer looking.

I recently installed a 55W 5000K DDM kit on my CBR1100xx lowbeam and I am very impressed, the regular highbeam is pathetic in comparison.

I installed a delay unit to reduce wear on the ballast too, but I hear that may be unnecessary.

Don't kid yourself BTW, 5000K already has a reasonable blue tint to it, if you are purely looking for light output, don't go higher than 4500K.:cookoo:
