What Swingarm length?

Hey guys,

Just tossing around the idea of stretching the busa. However, I don't want to stretch it too far. So what I was thinking was 6". So when I go to order my new swingarm, which length do I get? They are quoted on desired wheelbase. So if I wanted a 6" stretch, would I go for a 64" desired wheelbase? When I look up the stock wheelbase online, it says 58.6", so I just wanna make sure I order the right one.

I am going to be extending the tail section as well at the same time. I will be using this for drag racing if that helps.

Best for drag for me is about 4-8" . i'm at 8" and like it alot I got an 3-9" extended arm from Thompsons

I have the stock rear suspension that I will tighten up a bit, however I did add soupy's lowering links. I'm 177lbs currently and hoping to shed a bit more for summer to 170lbs.

im running +4 on my Turbo Hayabusa. if that helps

I'm almost 6 over with a +4" tail section. It makes for a nice looking combination, I think??
I do 2 up riding on back country roads too . NOT terrible in the curves, but I don't think I'm riding a GIXXER 600 either.

If you can swing the price(about $1600 with all the bells and whistles including powdercoating),a McINTOSH Alumipro is top of the line(had a 2"-6" on my '03 turbo bike and can still choke myself for not keeping it when i parted the bike out,that thing was a work of art).

McIntosh has the Sport Arm out now which is very comparable in price to the evil arms. That's what I went with and I'm very happy with my 6-10 over arm

At what point do you start sacrificing cornering and maneuver ability with an extended arm? I've seen some guys run what they dubbed a "cheater arm" which was only extended 2 inches. Majority of guys I've seen with a turbo/nitrous build run 4-6 inches.

Anybody have experience with a few different lengths and can provide some feedback??

I was +3 on a gen 1 and it actually hooked pretty dam well at 340 rwhp and cornered fine. went to +9 and it spins too much now.

gonna go to +7 in the spring and try that. id say anything over +7 is gonna hurt handling but I don't giv two rats asses about handling. if I did id buy a 600 and take it to the track. cornering on the street is a sure recipe for DEATH with everyone text messaging these days.

I ran a 8-12" Mcintosh alumipro from Goldenchild last year. I had problems with the POS bridgestone tire, so I got a shinko hookup on it and never looked back. I was launching at 6400RPM and hit 9.61 in the 1/4. No performance mods, just the arm. However, if I had more time I would have tried to up the 2 step even further as my front end wasn't even coming off the ground, plus I was just really getting a feel for how the bike reacted and how to control it (first year of racing in a series).

This upcoming year with the new class I'm racing in, I actually have to shorten it, so I will keep my current arm for if I jump up to the ProStreet category next year, but I will only be running a max of 4" (due to rider weight) this year with my new turbo setup.

4" is good . MyThompsons arm is 10 years old with 55000 miles on it and still perfect condition. Something to think about.
