I bought the bike and the previous owner had installed a 16 tooth front sprocket and I never really like it. I always felt like it was a bit "jerky" in low gears riding in town. I must say I like it better with the 17 tooth. I wish I would have changed it back sooner. That stupid nut was a pain though...

im wondering if the 16 tooth is the reason I have such a jerky bike at low speeds.. does it really make a big difference?

I really did notice a difference. It's about 500 rpm's on the tach. different. The bike accelerates just fine with out the smaller sprocket.

My bike was jerky on low RPM's on factory sprocket. When I had my bike dyno-tuned, we discovered the bike was running lean on the low end. Added a little fuel, and it is super smooth now.

When I rode in the higher elevations, which I do a lot of, my bike just felt too sluggish with the stock gearing. Even the 16 front wasn't enough. 16/42 is just right though
