WEIRD SWITCH...warp drive maybe?

I've got an electrical hand control switch on my Busa that I can't find explained in either my Owner's Manual or my Shop Manual.

I've thrown the switch with power on and off, and cannot percieve any effect from it.

It's a tiny red thumbswitch mounted in a boxy white plastic enclosure under the the clutch hydraulic reservoir. On the bottom side of the handle bar.

It moves laterally, parallel to the ground, left and right, with about a 1/4" throw.

Clues, anyone?

I thought that switch was part of the safety circuit for starting your bike, part of the kick stand switch circuit.I guess the design engineers didn't want you to start your bike in gear and also have your kick stand down.Did that done that with a Harley and it's not funny when you have a bunch of biker dudes watch you become the instant clown for the day.
