Valves ticking - Still in tolerant clearance range

If you want to try something worthwhile, do this: preload your cam chain tensioner. Turn the motor around to top dead center . . . take the 12mm bolt out of the cam chain tensioner, be careful there is a spring and a small pin inside the spring, just pull it out carefully and don't drop it. Take a thin screwdriver, or something similar and put it in the hole that the bolt came out of until it stops; press GENTLY until you hear the tensioner "click" ONCE. Then put that 12mm bolt back in with the spring, the same way it came out. Start the bike and see if it is a little quieter. Report back!

I dont think I ever owned a GSXR that didnt sound like a gold wing. All GSXR's have ticking valves.
Do a seamfoam treatment and Grip It and Rip It!

Exhaust leak was good advice.

I've had friends swear that a faint ticking in a new vehicle was in the valve train when it was nothing more than the normal sound of fuel injectors.

I also had loud clicking in one of my cars that turned out to be a failing injector.
