Unemployed...

I used to work as an Heavy Equipment operator, laid off every winter. Seems like you would enjoy it, but it gets boring very quickly. Unemployment benefits will allow you to keep your head above water, but barely.

just finished looking thru my records....

moved here in march, started on april 6th...   got laid off one week before the 6month requirement to receive unemployment benefits.



just keeps gettin' better.

That sucks !! I bet you were paying for unemployment when you were working though ! Tell them you'll just take that money back then!

CHECK W/ THE UNEMPLOYMENT OFFICE AND SEE IF THEY CAN PULL SOME STRINGS AND LET YOU SQUEAK BY.  YOUR FORMER EMPLOYER PROBABLY LAID YOU OFF INTENTIONALLY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR THE BENEFITS

Chris, have you tried contract work? While I was on strike I went to work for an aviation contractor! Paid pretty good..... Something to keep the lights on!

There are SO many jobs out there that need filled. Im sure you could get on at a Gas station, restaurant, construction, etc.. may not be what you WANT to do, or even come close to challanging your potential, but fact of the matter is that a hungry mouth will eat what its fed...

Every state is different, some states do not even have unemployment benifits. I would talk to the State employment. Best thng is start now to find something. You will do well, just keep at it for hours every day until you find what you need.

Oh and the main point is... Very sorry to hear of your layoff.

If you did your job the way you run this site, I see great opportunities ahead. The way I see it, a company that lays off an employee 1 week before they're entitled to benefits can only mean 1 thing. THEY ARE LOSING A VALUABLE EMPLOYEE. Keep your head up, great things are coming.
