undertail suggestions

The stock fender/tail light nonsense on my 07 needs to go. My problem is I don't like any of the after market undertails out there. What Id like to do is use and integrated tail light and mount the plate under the tail. I guess my question is what can I do to clean that fender assembly up without an undertail and without losing my trunk

Hacksaw blade and exacto knife worked for me. I moved my plate down to the chain guard too. Also I'd suggest spending the extra money and buying a nice quality tail light. I bought a cheap one and it's not very bright. I put a nice one (don't remember the brand off the top of my head. They are on eBay for around d $80) on my wife's cbr250r and I love it! I plan on upgrading mine some day.

I did the same thing to my 2013 as pictured on the yellow one but with a much flatter angle so it would retain a more streamlined look.
