The page I'm linking says this was in Iraq . Dont know , looks like Afgahnistan to me where some of the longest hits recorded have been made but nevertheless the .50 cal has some pop to it .

A soldier crawls along a forest floor
A match grade barrel to do his chore
Blending with the woodland scene
He leaves no trace of where he's been

A single task occupies his mind
To the outside world he is blind
One single task, one single goal
Only his mission occupies his soul

He moves into the open grass
The enemy patrol makes a searching pass
although they look, they can not see
the man moving out from a distant tree

One hour, two , three then four
He only moves a few feet more
Zero hour is getting near
He knows his target will soon appear

A single man he has been sent to kill
and on his hands this man's blood will spill
The moment is now, the target's in site
Taking up the first pressure the shoot feels right

They had a problem initially with the primers wanting to come out of the amunition, but I think they have it addressed now,You will here alot about this rifle in the future,great system with the ballistic computer.

Here in the States some number of years back there was a nation wide advertising campaign by a telephone company who was using lower long distance phone call rates as primary reason to switch to their services .

The campaign slogan for the long distance calls was

Reach out and touch someone

That was translated into a universal long shot .

yea have read a lot about them a few of my friends have built cutsom ones with bat actions and lilja barrels there made pretty sweet

I saw this one at the SHOT Show. It's damn impressive but I'd hate to be the one carrying it!!

Sniper trivia :

Master Cpl. Arron Perry (Canada) working with US forces in Afganistan in 2002 scored the longest confirmed sniper kill in combat history, at 2430 meters (about a mile and a half), breaking the previous record held by US sniper god Carlos Hathcock in Vietnam.

He was awarded the Bronze star (US).

The weapon used was a 50-caliber MacMillan TAC-50 rifle . The bullet was in the air 4 seconds and the drop was 146 feet
