Luci melted a wire going to the rectifier a few weeks ago. I got a rectifier and harness lead from GoldenChild, cut out the old, and soldered in the new. Everything seems to check out fine. I was not able to determine the reason for the meltdown. I'm assuming the old failing battery was causing more current to be pulled through the rectifier to keep everything powered. Or maybe 7 years and ~90,000 miles was all the old rectifier could stand.

WOW not only are you wizard in the kitchen but good with a scalpal also. You never fail to amaze us.

If you haven't sealed it up... throw some electrical tape over each solder joint for extra protection... Glad I could help...

Shrink wrap is better, anyway excessive heat caused the meltdown. This has happened to more than a few Gen I's. It's usually reported as a loose connector ........ anyway, hope this takes care of her
