Torque wrench ?

Anyone have recommendations for a good torque wrench that isn't in the Snap-On price range? What are people using thats accurate but doesnt cost a fortune?

Harbor freight! Its super cheap and works quite well. I do not know the accuracy of it though... If you are looking for spot on perfection you are going to need a more expensive one. My harbor freight one works awesome though for my regular needs.

Craftsman here too, its a beam style (not ratcheting/micrometer type) 1/2" drive. Actually when I used it to torque my rear axle nut today, the way that nut skipped around I wonder if that beam style might be better???
3/8" drive is a micrometer style.
Craftsman tools are generally plenty good nuff for the shade tree mechanic.

Thanks for the responses. Guess I'll check out the Craftsman since I live near a Sears. Doesn't have to be perfect, just dont want to strip threads/snap off bolts.

I just picked up one from napa for 35 bucks. Seems pretty well built. Looks like the one at sears and its 5-80lbs. Will work for whole bike. I'm gonna test monday when I do the oil and re torque everything to spec

You can get a good one from Harbor Freight for $2 but the accuracy is around +/- 99%. Go with Craftsman for better built ones. That's what we use on our planes. YAY CRAFTSMAN!!Oh, and we use Snap-On

Torque wrenches are one of them things that I personally feel you cant go cheap on even more so working on a motorcycle with aluminum threads. Have you priced a new oil pan, labor, and down time? A torque wrench wont go bad sitting in your box, it will last a life time. I agree I would NOT go any cheaper then a Craftsman and I would have it calibrated or atleast checked.

I bought mine at Home Depot. Its a Husky with a LIFETIME warranty. The Craftsman was only like a 3 month warranty or some crap. I've already dropped the wrench, and I just brought it to HD and they gave me a brand new one. Easy as pie..
P.S. once you drop a torque wrench, they are not accurate anymore, please remember that. Mine was off quite a bit after a pretty good fall from my tailgate.

You can go to any Autozone and get a quality torque wrench from the loaner pool for a deposit equal to the purchase price. So the price is....freeeeee.

While we are on the topic of torque wrenches...
I have seen a few do this and its not a good thing. NEVER use a torque wrench to loosen hardware. Torque wrenches are only supposed to use to tighten. Asking,,,, then why do some have the option to reverse it... I dunno but its not a great idea to do so.

Option to reverse it is for left hand threads
