temp. gauge????????

So I'm confused... I thought the middle was "normal"?
That's where mine "normally" sits.
Either right on the line moving about through in-town traffic
and just a little below the line when continuously moving.

Well the middle is a ref for normal temp, meaning in certain climates it can run at this temp w/no problems(if that makes any sense ??? )
I live in cali and my 08 ALWAYS runs about an 1/8" to 1/16" BELOW the half way mark(even in 90* weather). The only time it goes up is sitting in traffic, when it hits the half way mark the fans kick on and it goes right back down. Mine NEVER reaches the half way mark on the freeway, Nor does/should your fans be kicking on!
You either have something wrong with your engine(something causing undo stress, which is causing it to run hot....VERY DOUBTFUL), or something isnt right with your cooling system. Like its either low on coolant, thermostat is not working right, and or you have "AIR" in the system(I really think you have air in there).

So if this guy has air in his system, how did he get it?
Wouldn't it have pulled more juice in from the res. if it was low?
or maybe the Res. is empty?
But then where did the juice that was in the system go?
Leaking in the oil?
Burning in a cylinder?
Leaking outside?

If you pull the thermostat, I would have a new one and go ahead and replace it. Just looking at it might not tell you anything unless it's stuck open. If it's not going past halfway on the guage all should be good but if it starts to climb higher I'd let the dealer handle it beins it's under warrenty. Best of luck to you, but it is "NOT" normal for your busa to be running that hot on the freeway(NO WAY SHOULD YOUR FANS BE COMMING ON IN 70-80* WEATHER ON THE FREEWAY).

My K8, normally 1/8-1/16 below the middle mark. At highway speeds closer the 1/8 before the middle.

7,000 miles and the only time it is at the middle or a 1/16 above is in heavy traffic on those 90+ degree days with high humidity.

BTW how far is it moving, you said from the middle to normal. The bike should fluctuate temps somewhat. I know my bike moves anywhere from a little before half to a little past half. How bout you.

I agree with that. The most mine ever reads is a hair below the middle. If it's chilly, it drops a 1/4 inch or so. I don't pay any attention. If it got above the middle, I would worry. I often let mine idle until it gets to the middle, which is exactly when the fan kicks in, before riding.

I guess I need to pay more attention to mine. It's normally below the half gauge and occasionally reads a little higher.

I would say this is normal. Mine kicks the fans on and off while running on the highway. I notice it when it is cooler out because you can feel the added heat coming off the bike when the fans come on and yes even while running at speed. Just keep an eye on it as usual and you'll be fine.

Glad to hear you have the fastest color My 08 is like most of the rest i've read, temp stays below the halfway mark, 1/8 to 1/4, only noticed the temp rise a little while stopped at a redlight, also the only time i've noticed the fan comming on, sounds like air in the cooling system to me also..

my 04 usually sits a hair below the middle unless in traffic and hot then it is a hair above middle even with the fans until I start moving again
