Hey guys i have installed a few mods over the winter break and on was the soupys lowering kit for the front and rear. The front is 1" drop and i'm not sure what the rear is because they come at a preset height and i dont know what it is except that it droped the rear significantly and i am a 5' 10" 240# rider and the wife is around 5' 7" 165 passenger. I have set the forks and rear shock S&H setting to as hard as it can be but i want to adjust everthing else. So can you guys help me out?

Send out the forks and shock for re-valving and heavier springs.
The best mod, money can buy. (Besides boost)

I thank rockadaous i searched jinksters thread and i have just finished all the tuning for the suspension except for the rear. Here is my? since i'm lowered i have the rear compression as far as it would go hard and it will squat only 1" when i get on the bike (not sure about the both of us on it) and i wanna keep it like that so can i also set the rebound as stiff as possible or would that not work cuz i want the bike to squat as lil as possibe in the rear when either its me or me and the wife are on it.

Cranking in more preload DOES NOT make the suspension any stiffer. All it does is raise the bike. More like raising the ride height. If you don't want your suspension to bottom out, it will take heavier springs.

However, you can stiffen up the suspension by adding more compression. More compression will slow the travel down when you hit a bump but it will not help the sag when you and your passenger mount up.

I would not add more rebound as you will not be helping your problem at all.

IMO, lowering a bike which has to pack a heavy load is not a good idea.

a few words from a large fellow who rides w/pass. quite a bit...lowered and stretched:whistle:

I dropped the rear 2" and the front 3/4", and I had to raise the rear of the bike using the rear shock collar (which makes bike SUPER stiff) just to keep undertail from hitting the tire (but I have THE lowest undertail u can buy-others offer 1-2" more clearance), which made my back fell like a mangled knot whenever I got off the bike...NOT comfortable for rough-street riding. thank goodness GPW from HPC hooked me up just a few weeks after I did my stretched-arm conversion:bowdown:

Now I got new rear spring n re-valved rear shock (still OEM piece just workd-over) & the bike rides better now than it did stock (in my Wife's opinion)- and I cant complain about the take-off speeds now:laugh:
trust me-if u plan on taking long winding drives with your lady on the back, that shock/spring combo is going to save you big$$ on chiropractor bills and hemmroid creme:thumbsup:

plus, its a mod that seems like its "for them"
"honey- I love you sooooo much, I want you to be extra-comfy on my bike, so I bought you this nice suspension setup to keep you cozy back there.":beerchug:
get her a Tobin seat too and you'll never get to ride that bike by yourself unless its raining:thumbsup:

and just to prove 'low-n-looong' dont always mean 'low-n-slow'

More compression with make the ride firmer too, you will feel the bumps more.

I think we can leave out the IMO.

cheers

Well i had the wife on the back with me and there is still plenty of room for some bumps so i'm just gonna leave the rear the way i have it set. I did adjust the proload like jinkster as we are the same weight and all. I will find out how it rides this season i guess lol then i will go from there. As long as me and the wife dont lose our jobs she may end up gettin a bike and i wont have to worry about it anyway as it will be getting stretched as soon as i get the cash
