Its OK now, north of Monterey but a few days ago it was pretty smokey. Golden sunsets were cool though. Hopefully no fires of any size north of here.Howz the air quality up that way?
I remember very distinctly how it was here in San Diego just last October.
Enjoy the day~
I called the Mayor (Jerry Sanders) last Monday and asked him to send up a few of our batallions. I got a report just yesterday that they'd arrived and were already at the front lines. Its OK now, north of Monterey but a few days ago it was pretty smokey. Golden sunsets were cool though. Good idea...I'll mention that in a note which I'll give to the stripper to 'hand' deliver.I saw Los Angeles and Orange County trucks up here a few weeks ago fighting fires in the mountain area west of Felton, off hiway 9 north of Santa Cruz. That type of fire fighting is tough work! They all need a raise in pay!!!![]()
Indeed.yep something like 1400 fires in cali right now! when the wind blows up out of the south like yesterday its very smokey around here and just think, when the rainy season comes so does landslide season
Actually no earthquakes, just floods. Your burning up and we're being drowned. 3 weekends ago it rained 5 inches, 2 weekends ago it rained 3.5 inches, last weekend it rained 4 inches, rained today, supposed to rain tomorrow and the next day. Just starting the 7th month and we're 24 inches over for the whole year on precipitation. you couldn't start a fire here with gasoline.Indeed.yep something like 1400 fires in cali right now! when the wind blows up out of the south like yesterday its very smokey around here and just think, when the rainy season comes so does landslide season
And to think they're starting to have earthquakes in the midwest now.
California still looks like 'land of the blessed' comparatively.

You are correct sir. We felt it here. There was an earthquake in the midwest within the last few months, brother. Yes. Seems to me there was. Everyone was in shock (no pun intended).
That would be the New Madrid fault. It's last slip was the huge 1811-1812 quakes that caused a section of the Mississippi river floor to raise setting off the famous case of the "Mississippi river running backwards", there was also reported to be at least two 8' to 12' waterfalls in the river for a while until another shock put it back to more or less normal. The quakes were also responsible for making Reelfoot Lake south of St Louis. They say its over 60 years overdue to slip again. I heard about the tremor a few months back that rattled a lot of area east of the Mississippi, fortunatly here in the western part of the state we felt nothing. We're reportedly more geologicaly stable and shouldn't be affected if/when it does shake again. Springfield is even labeled as a major refugee center after a New Madrid quake, oh joy.Au contraire~mon cher...
The largest most potentially devastating tectonic plate fault is located in the midwest (I think it runs parallel to the Mississippi River).
My mom has a ranch in Missouri and I'm originally from Wisconsin; so I've been paying close attention to the flooding. Hope you're doing all right.
