Stealth License Plate Covers

Anyone know the status of the so-called "stealth" License Plate covers that turn opaque when power is applied?
I heard that there was some problems but I've been waiting for mine for quite a while now.

I got a call from them maybe a couple weeks ago? offered a refund or asked if I still wished to get it when it was available. I'm willing to wait.
