Safe to jump?

Undoubtedly there are different charging systems, nobody's arguing that. Automotive in the US mostly went away from generators in the 60's. I fail to see how a difference in method of generation will cause a problem. Sure, a significant voltage spike can cause damage, but it can damage the car as well.

We've jumped GJoker's Busa and my old Katana off a non-running car, another motorcycle and off a emergency charging thingy-ma-bobber. (at different times.. not all at once

I fried the rectifier on my CBR by using my truck to jump it. You gotta be careful.

Yes, and then after all that he explained why it wasn't a good idea.  You can be right and still not explain it well.

Note that I didn't post up the sites that said it didn't matter if the car engine was running because they didn't
offer any explanation that made sense.

it is your choice...you can push all nite, or give it a try...when you sittin on your desk? you can bla bla all nite. about amp and all the eletronics...but, when your bike flat dead and middle of the parking lot at nite? the story will start little bit different here...

It's not really DC though. More like pulsed AC. The debate (for me) was whether having the car/pickup running made any difference, not if jumping from a car/pickup was ok (it is). I now believe there is a reason to not have your vehicle running when jumping a bike. All previous explanations I've seen didn't hold any water.

Did anybody here say that you can't jump a motorcycle off a car battery?
It's a simple matter of don't have the fuggin car running while you do it.
