Racing Fuel $2.10 Gallon

There's a pump at a gas station near me that sells racing fuel {113 octane} For $210 a gallon, why would it be cheaper than regular fuel?

Don't know why it would be cheaper, but racing fuel contains lead. Not good for the converters or O2 sensors.

Here in North Georgia there are a couple of places that sell racing fuel, we have a local dirt track.

And this fuel is about $6.00 dollars a gallon.

About 5 years ago, I was paying $12.50 a gallon for 116 octane racing gas.
119 octane would have probably been $15.00 a gallon.

The company is VP which has been around forever. Here is a link, but I think you will have to call for shipping and prices. I wouldn't touch "racing gas for $2.19 a gallon."

There is a huge amount of lead and additives in real racing gas. The price is supposed to be that high (taxes) to keep people from running it on the street.

You would need to buy by 25 or 55 gallon drum, and the shipping is expensive because it is flammable. You would also need a good drum pump.

If it sounds to good to be true....

i got race fuel in maryland about a month ago and it was 8.45/gal.

One of the local stations here sells 105+ octane (this is what they advertise) and it is actually $6.something per gallon (closer to $7.00) The other location sells 113 octane I have never purchased this one so I do not know their price per gallon. This one is probably alot higher.

I used to run about one gallon of racing fuel and then finish filling the tank with premium about twice a year to help keep the inside of the engine a little cleaner, but this was on older bikes with a modified exhaust.

Not all racing fuels contain lead. I'd guess 30-50% of the market is Unleaded now. I believe Nascar has been running unleaded racing fuels for about 3 years.

I run Torco's racing fuel (octane 100) sometimes and it is a premium unleaded fuel. Anyhow they usually run about $5.94 per gallon. So $2.10 for a racing fuel sounds too good to be true.

friend of mine uses it in his 2004 gsxr 1000, 8 ounces mixed with super unleadded. he said he feels a difference I say he's an idiot...either way I wont run it and he still cant beat me so I am good either way.

Fuel at a raceway is always cheaper because you are not paying outrageous shipping prices. Unless they have changed in the last few years, VP 116/119 octane is heavily leaded.

Stock Busa's don't require racing gas. Racing gas always burns worse because of all the additives. You must be running turbo.

Liter or quart pricing. It took me a bit to get used to liter pricing when I visited Germany.

Could it be alcohol? My buddy runs it in his modified and its around 2.15 PR gallon. Its sunoco. Race fuel.
